About the role

Alloy is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer who will report to the Director of Applications and Technology Development to enable high-value technical sales by designing components to solve customer problems. They will collaborate cross-functionally across the company by interfacing with production, sales, software, and process engineering to deliver best-in-class components. This role will be instrumental to Alloy’s commercial success.

What you will do:

  • Become a technical expert in Alloy’s process and lead customer requirements definition and component design

  • Identify opportunities where Alloy’s capabilities present an advantage based on industry knowledge

  • Provide DFM feedback on components leveraging a deep understanding of traditional manufacturing processes and how they affect component design.

  • Design and fabricate components to highlight Alloy’s capabilities and improve success rates

  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Software Teams to drive process improvements and serve the evolving needs of our customers.

  • Interface with the Sales Team and Customers to explain Alloy’s capabilities and provide feedback

  • Communicate with the Production Team to ensure customer requirements and timing are met.

  • Work closely with Product to prioritize new features that expand Alloy’s capabilities and marketability.

About you:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field

  • 5+ years prior experience in mechanical design or applications engineering

  • Experience in component design for industrial equipment, automotive, semiconductor, or similar industries

  • Worked in new product development (NPI/NPD)

  • You have a passion for design and are continuously learning how things are made and why

  • You take ownership of your projects and roll up your sleeves to get the job done

  • Background in design for manufacturability and proficiency in CAD

  • Experience in thermal fluids components and systems design is highly desirable

  • Willingness to work with customers and represent Alloy in external conversations

  • Experience with metal manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, casting, forging, sheet metal, and 3D printing

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage projects

Additional requirements

This position will require access to information subject to control under U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”).
