What You Will Be Doing:
We are looking for a Combustion Test Engineer to join the Combustion & Simulation team at Amogy. In this position, you will work on testing and evaluating the components that comprise our innovative ammonia-to-power solution, including low-emission burners, injectors, and combustors for hydrogen and hydrogen-ammonia combustion.
- Test low-emission combustion technology, including burners, fuel nozzles/injectors, and innovative combustors for use with hydrogen or hydrogen-ammonia fuels
- Plan and execute experiments, including preparing SOPs and process diagrams, facilitating safety reviews, helping with equipment setup, and managing gas inventory
- Evaluate tests results to help improve predictive 1D/3D models and guide design improvements for better combustion performance and durability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute hardware development and test programs to mature technology for production implementation
- Apply for patents on inventions, attend conferences, and participate in bi-monthly literature/industry reviews
- BS/MS/MA with 10+ years experience or Ph.D. in mechanical/aerospace/chemical engineering with 6+ years experience
- Theoretical understanding of fuel properties, combustion processes, pollutant formation, and working knowledge of burner/combustor designs
- Hands-on experience with testing and designing combustion hardware
- Direct experience with designing and testing industrial burners/engines/gas turbines/fuel injectors & nozzles is preferred
- Experience with aerothermal analysis & design, heat transfer, and energy conversion devices is preferred
- Experience in combustion with a focus on stability and emissions from H2/NH3 fueled systems is preferred,
- Experience implementing, building, and validating 1D/3D combustion models using commercial software, such as ANSYS FLUENT and CHEMKIN, is preferred
