What You Will Be Doing: We are looking for a Combustion Test Engineer to join the Combustion & Simulation team at Amogy. In this position, you will work on testing and evaluating the components that comprise our innovative ammonia-to-power solution, including low-emission burners, injectors, and combustors for hydrogen and hydrogen-ammonia combustion.
  • Test low-emission combustion technology, including burners, fuel nozzles/injectors, and innovative combustors for use with hydrogen or hydrogen-ammonia fuels
  • Plan and execute experiments, including preparing SOPs and process diagrams, facilitating safety reviews, helping with equipment setup, and managing gas inventory
  • Evaluate tests results to help improve predictive 1D/3D models and guide design improvements for better combustion performance and durability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute hardware development and test programs to mature technology for production implementation
  • Apply for patents on inventions, attend conferences, and participate in bi-monthly literature/industry reviews
Requirements The minimum requirements we seek:
  • BS/MS/MA with 10+ years experience or Ph.D. in mechanical/aerospace/chemical engineering with 6+ years experience
  • Theoretical understanding of fuel properties, combustion processes, pollutant formation, and working knowledge of burner/combustor designs
  • Hands-on experience with testing and designing combustion hardware
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Direct experience with designing and testing industrial burners/engines/gas turbines/fuel injectors & nozzles is preferred
  • Experience with aerothermal analysis & design, heat transfer, and energy conversion devices is preferred
  • Experience in combustion with a focus on stability and emissions from H2/NH3 fueled systems is preferred,
  • Experience implementing, building, and validating 1D/3D combustion models using commercial software, such as ANSYS FLUENT and CHEMKIN, is preferred
The salary pay range for this position is $136,513 to $150,000. The salary pay range is applicable to positions physically based in New York City.
