What You’ll Be Doing:The Materials Scientist will support identification of metals/alloys for ammonia and hydrogen technologies. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to select, identify deficiencies, and recommend the materials solution for various components of the system. The work scope for this position also includes characterization of materials, engaging with third party labs, assisting in data collection, interpretation, and communication to group members of the R&D Materials team and Amogy’s leadership.
  • Work with a group of talented engineers and scientists to develop ammonia to power technologies
  • Research and select metals for custom components to satisfy temperature, creep strength, fatigue life, corrosion resistance, weldability, and cost requirements
  • Review process control equipment and other off-the-shelf components for compatibility with prototype systems and lab infrastructure
  • Plan and manage third-party characterization testing to validate material performance under Amogy's operating conditions
  • Setup, construct, operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
  • Support the activities in new materials developments in hydrogen value chain
  • Perform data analysis for various analytical techniques.
  • Perform literature reviews to maintain understanding of the field’s state of the art
  • Ensure proper workplace safety and assist in building a culture of safety
Requirements The minimum requirements we seek:
  • PhD in Materials Science or Metallurgy with at least 5 years of professional experience
  • Experience in metals/alloy selection for ammonia and hydrogen
  • Experience working with third party lab for characterization of metals/alloy and experience in building the facilities to assess failure characteristics of metals/alloy
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with excellent written and communication skills
The salary pay range for this position is $120,000 to $161,000. The salary pay range is applicable to positions physically based in Houston, TX.
