San Francisco, CA, USA
Posted on Monday, February 12, 2024

Job description

Company Overview: At Arch, we envision a future where every home in the US is sustainable. Arch builds the software that enables society to transition to a world powered by heat pumps. As a high growth climate tech startup, our driven team of seven is dedicated to turning this vision into reality. We're searching for our fourth and fifth engineering team member, dynamic individuals with a deep-rooted passion for the environment and a proven track record across early-stage startups. We are backed by Gigascale, Coatue, Floodgate, ReGen, MCJ, and the founders of Aurora Solar.

About the role

We’re looking for a scrappy product builder who is impact driven and wants to define the engineering culture as one of our first engineering hires.

Your work will contribute to directly improving the daily lives of millions of homeowners and heat pump installers while drastically reducing emissions. You will build new and delightful features, develop powerful new capabilities and hire the best possible team.

Residential homes are responsible for 18% of CO2 in the US. Heat pumps can drastically reduce these emissions. Our mission is to make sustainable heating and cooling technologies so accessible that the adoption becomes inevitable.

Job requirements

  • Min. 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • You enjoy having exposure to every part of the product
  • You have substantial experience in an early-stage startup (e.g., ex-founders, founding engineers, one of the first 10 employees)
  • You are driven by the urgency to significantly and quickly move the needle on climate change
  • You are comfortable with uncertainty and rapid changes and you have an owner’s mindset
  • You are comfortable with TypeScript, React, and Postgres
  • You are super supportive – especially when teammates are faced with new challenges
  • You put yourself in the shoes of our users to craft a great experience and are excited to hear user feedback
  • You value clear, frequent communication (we do a lot of reading & writing)
  • You uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design
  • You value simplicity and pragmatism (you think radically but ship incrementally)
  • You are experienced in building data infrastructure that is both scalable and extensible
  • You are self-directed and comfortable working autonomously

What you will achieve

  • Be an integral part of our core founding team and shape our product/company’s roadmap
  • Contribute to building our first product to help millions of households to save $ and drastically reduce their carbon footprint
  • Work with a variety of large, unstructured data sources to train and test models
  • Deploy models into production, and evaluate and improve their performance over time
  • Hire a team to work with you to 10x your output
