About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and driven People Operations Manager who is deeply aligned with our mission and values. This role is critical to championing our people-first culture and will work across the full spectrum of HR functions – from strategy and operations to wellness, recruitment, learning and development, and systems. This is a high-impact position for someone who thrives on empowering others, creating structure, and driving positive organisational change in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Coordinate with hiring managers to ensure hiring needs are clearly defined and executed in alignment with BasiGo hiring SOPs’.
- Support end-to-end recruitment operations, including crafting JDs, sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates.
- Manage new employee contracting and onboarding processes, including documentation, welcome communications, and orientation logistics.
- Oversee the optimisation and continuous improvement of recruitment systems, including managing integrations, training hiring teams, updating templates, and refining processes to support a seamless candidate experience.
- Lead efforts to improve onboarding outcomes by working with stakeholders to ensure new hires are prepared and supported through their transition.
- Support recruitment data tracking and dashboarding in collaboration with the TA team to drive insights and performance improvements.
Learning & Development & Payroll Management
- Support the execution of internal training programs and employee development plans.
- Help maintain and update training materials and learning management systems.
- Manage payroll processing in Rwanda and benefits administration in collaboration with the wider Global People team.
- Support HRIS management and leave tracking systems.
- Coordinate employee relations processes and policy implementation.
- Provide operational support to junior HR team members and interns.
- Collaborate with the People team to execute goals, reports, and initiatives across BasiGo Rwanda.
- Ensure accurate documentation and follow-through on People-related initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field from a recognised university.
- A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- 5–8 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 3 years in a management-level role and experience managing organisational change.
- Experience working in People & Culture teams and/or in organisations with strong people-first, wellness-centred cultures.
- Experience supporting outsourcing/BPO, impact sourcing, or client service organisations is highly desirable.
- Current or prior membership with HR bodies such as CHRP, SHRM, or IHRM is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Rwandan labour laws and HR compliance requirements, with broader East African HR knowledge as a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Deep knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to connect HR strategies to organisational goals.
- Demonstrated leadership, people management, and conflict resolution skills.
- High proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including handling sensitive matters.
- Strategic thinker who is organised, proactive, and detail-oriented.
- Emotionally intelligent and approachable, with a people-first, empathetic leadership style.
