BasiGo is an early-stage e-mobility start-up working to create the future of clean, electric, and digitally-powered public transport in sub-Saharan Africa. We provide bus operators with a cost-effective electric alternative to existing diesel buses, along with reliable charging and maintenance services in support of their bus operations. Position Summary and Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision,

  • Develop cordial relationships with bus operator personnel, especially those directly responsible for the E-Buses.
  • KPI Monitoring by tracking vehicle uptime, energy efficiency, and cost per Kilometer.
  • Inventory and asset management by tracking the lifecycle of the assets while ensuring timely updates/upgrades, maintaining EV-specific tools, supplies, and spares.
  • Liaise with the service team and schedule a roster for E-bus scheduled and unscheduled service and maintenance.
  • Effectively communicate and engage E-Bus drivers and conductors on any operational challenges, and code of conduct.
  • Manage and coordinate with the service lead on any roadside rescue operations or accident scenes for BasiGo E-Buses.
  • Ensure that all operations of charging, Daily checks, Bus cleaning, receiving, and dispatch are done in a timely and effective manner, and any challenges/delays are accurately reported and captured on BasiGo platforms.
  • Continuously monitor BasiGo E-Bus monitoring platforms for all entries and coordinate with the various heads for the timely execution of these entries.
  • Coordinate bus repositioning between different charging stations while re-emphasizing SOPs are followed.
  • Ensure availability of service van/truck/cab to aid in operations.
  • Ensure all operational actions and processes are well documented.
  • Continuously monitor the flow of operations and draw up an improvement plan of processes and procedures where necessary.
  • Be a safety champion for the team and constantly remind everyone about safety documentation of incidents and rectification reports.
  • Liaise with insurance on accident information and the processing of claims.
  • Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned.

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • Required qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 2-3 years of experience, preferably in transport (electric vehicle technology), logistics, engineering, economics, management, business, or administration.
    • Proven working experience in Bus service or EV-specific operations will be an added advantage.
    • Ability to collate data and make presentations of the same.
    • Strong technical capabilities and an ability to learn new technologies and systems.
    • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills with good command of spoken English, French, and Kinyarwanda.
    • Software proficiency for analyzing fleet data.
    • Proactive problem-solving skills.
    • Flexibility to work based on the demands of the business, which may require working shifts, i.e, evenings/nights and weekends, or upcountry.
    • Strong team player who is ready to collaborate and achieve the best result for the team!

    • Enterprising, self-starter who is adaptable to the changing dynamics of a start-up business.
    • Humility / Flexibility. This is an early-stage start-up company with a fast-paced environment. Job duties may evolve quickly.
    • Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent, and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner).

    • A good driving record demonstrating the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle is required.
