ABOUT CPI AND THE LAB
About CPI
CPI is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has seven global offices in Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
CPI is known as a leader in tracking sustainable investment trends, identifying innovative business models, and supporting the solutions that can drive the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient, inclusive economy. We are unique in our focus on finance, our ability to get the right people to the table, and our analytical rigor.
About the Lab
The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (The Lab) is a public-private initiative for which CPI is the Secretariat that identifies, develops, and launches cutting-edge climate finance instruments. It aims to drive billions of dollars of private investment into climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries.
The Lab has funding to implement a work plan on private and blended finance for adaptation in SIDS. CPI envisions a 3-pronged approach to support ecosystem building for private adaptation finance in SIDS: 1) development of a playbook for private adaptation finance in SIDS, 2) set-up and support for an action group built from lessons of the playbook, and 3) early-stage instrument support.
Adaptation finance for SIDS is a critical need. While the majority of adaptation finance in SIDS will come from the public sector, there is a role for the private sector to finance adaptation in SIDS. This work seeks to deepen the understanding of the private sector’s role in financing adaptation in SIDS, both retrospectively and looking forward.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Lab is seeking a talented and motivated consultant to support the Lab Secretariat, Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), in the scoping and implementation of a work program focused on private and blended finance for adaptation in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The consultant will work in close cooperation with a Senior Analyst and other CPI staff to push forward the development and implementation of this work program. Outputs of the work program will include written publications, convenings, and support of climate finance instruments.
The consultant will provide guidance and technical expertise on private and blended finance for adaptation finance in SIDS and will support communication and engagement with a range of partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres in SIDS. The consultant will play a strategic role, advising on project scoping and implementation and in managing and growing stakeholder relationships.
Fully remote location option available, prior residence or current presence in a SIDS country is a plus.
