As a Senior Senior Aerospace Coatings Applicator Specialist (ACAS) Technician at BETA, you will play a crucial hands-on role in revolutionizing electric aviation by ensuring that all work is performed safely and effectively to provide reliability as well as scalability. You will oversee ACAS training, assist with work center duties and inspection. Senior tech will also have fundamental knowledge for conformity and compliance.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Work Safely by wearing the prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with WI-003 and your planning
  • Work Responsibly by remaining compliant to the most current, approved BETA Work Instructions without deviation
  • Read and understand all approved BETA engineering documents that pertain to the aerospace coatings process before you execute to them
  • Document your work as required in PLEX or other indicated platform
  • Maintain good housekeeping – clean as you go!
  • Strive to generate excellent quality results in a timely and productive fashion
  • Respond well and respectfully to team members and team leaders

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of comprehensive work experience within the aerospace coatings application industry
  • This may include gainful employment in Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM), Maintenance and Repair Operations (MRO), Tier-One components manufacturing, or any combination of the aforementioned
  • Experience performing hands-on paint operations or training-related duties, such as preparing aircraft substrates for coatings application, masking critical aircraft components, mixing and applying liquid organic coatings to the aircraft with HVLP , electrostatic, or other spray equipment
  • Trained and Certified Instructor in accordance with SAE AS7489, with current credentials in good standing with the issuing certification agency, or has the ability to renew or obtain these credentials within ninety-days after hire date
  • A working knowledge and a basic skillset to remediate paint defects using standard rework methods such as sanding, polishing, and touch-up
  • Strong communication skills, a high level of integrity, a positive attitude, and exemplary leadership attributes

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

  • 1+ year successfully serving the aerospace coatings industry as a front-line supervisor/Lead of an ACAS team in a similar working environment
  • Advanced ACAS training & certification in accordance with AS7489 (Course II or higher)
  • Experience working with aerospace-grade composite substrates
  • A broad understanding of interpreting aircraft drawings to identify what regulatory (FAA, EASA etc.) placards, and engineering documents
  • An extensive understanding of paint defect remediation techniques to include performing successful paint blends and spot-ins
  • Safety and environmental knowledge regarding EPA, OSHA, RCRA, etc.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Long periods of standing, walking, and moving around aircraft or large parts
  • May work on scaffolding or ladders to reach high areas
  • Lifting and Carrying: Regular lifting of equipment, tools, and paint containers (commonly 25–50 lbs)
  • Reaching and Bending: Frequent reaching overhead, bending, crouching, kneeling, and squatting to
  • access various parts of the aircraft
  • Manual Dexterity: Requires steady hands and coordination to operate spray guns and apply paint with
  • precision
  • Repetitive Motions: Continuous use of arms and hands for spraying or sanding
  • Respiratory and Eye Protection: Must wear respirators and protective eyewear for extended periods
  • during paint application and preparation
