We are looking for a Specialist to join our team in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina!
You have commercial experience in mammalian cell culture
- You have conducted experimental research involving genetic manipulation of mammalian cells
- You feel comfortable preparing cell culture media and aseptically maintaining human cells on a daily basis in a laboratory setting; you are comfortable performing wet lab biochemical assays and interpreting data for actionable decision-making that impacts the greater company
- You thrive when your input for scientific strategy is leveraged and are actively engaging in regular scientific discussion
- You like to move fast, but are able to maintain meticulous record-keeping
You love tackling challenging problems with a team
- You believe in our mission of working towards better human health and sustainability
- You enjoy working collaboratively with a broad and diverse team and stepping outside of your comfort zone
- You're naturally inclined to think critically and creatively to work through murky problems with limited resources
- Ambiguity is your jam and you're able to strive ahead without direction
- You hold yourself and others to the utmost ethical standards in all scientific and professional endeavors
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- Ph.D., Masters with 2+ years, or Bachelor’s with 4+ years of hands-on research experience
- Strong background in mammalian cell culture and aseptic technique with experience culturing cells across formats (adherent and suspension culture, 3D cell culture, and/or bioreactor culture); experience culturing primary cells is a plus
- Background and experience in molecular biology including: transfection/transduction, vector design, and qPCR
- Experience with analytical assays including plate assays/ELISA, western blotting, cell-based assays, and IF
- Ability to keep accurate, up-to-date, and well-organized records of experimental results and prepare timely reports
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with genome-engineering tools (i.e. CRISPR, lentivirus, transposons, shRNA/siRNA)
- Experience with multiple gene-delivery techniques
- Experience with assay development and media optimization
