The company is well funded and has a deep IP portfolio with dozens of patents granted and pending. Now we need you to drive the next level of innovation in our cell manufacturing process. DescriptionAs a Senior Process Engineer you will develop new cell assembly and formation manufacturing processes, increase production reliability and collaborate on equipment design for manual and pilot production while increasing product quality and supporting material development for Blue Current's novel solid-state batteries. This is a hands-on, fast paced position with a team of scientists and engineers that have a shared passion to change the energy storage landscape. Responsibilities
  • Develop and design small and large format battery cell assembly and formation process for Pilot line.
  • Generate machine spec from the manufacturing process and work with machine suppliers to design Pilot line process.
  • Design small and large format battery cell manual assembly jigs, fixtures and small equipment to prove process design and concept.
  • Assemble solid-state battery cells and identify areas of improvement to improve cell assembly quality and capacity for small and large format cell assembly area.
  • Work closely with R&D cell design team to check electrochemical testing to analyze the impact of assembly processes and material properties on cell performance.
  • Work hands-on with manual and pilot scale manufacturing equipment to identify best process protocols and parameters.
  • Work with team members to integrate and scale new battery materials and production methods.
  • Utilize failure mode and effects analysis and root cause analysis to inform cell design and process yield improvements.
  • Document and analyze experimental results. Present and share results with team members.
  • BS in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields. MS or PhD preferred.
  • 5+ years experience working with lithium-ion battery, fuel cell, capacitor or semiconductor manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Experience working with lithium-ion battery manufacturing equipment (Die and punch, electrode stacking machine, Jerry roll winding machine, tab welders, pouch formers, Formation equipment, etc.), preferred.
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing manufacturing processes using failure mode and effects analysis, root cause analysis, and statistical process control methods (DOE, 6 sigma, Cp and Cpk, GRR, FMEA, PFMEA, JMP/Minitab), preferred.
  • Experience with conceptualizing, designing, and delivering mechanical parts.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, CATIA or similar, preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and experience working with team members to overcome technical challenges.
  • Appreciation for and adherence to lab and work safety policies.
Education: Bachelor's (Preferred) Experience: Li ion battery manufacturing process development: 5+ years (Preferred) Salary: $111,200 - $166,800 per year
