Working in Manufacturing and Supply Chain and reporting directly to the EVP of Manufacturing, the Quality Engineer is responsible for defining and establishing detailed quality control procedures, designing, and implementing quality systems and procedures, testing, and monitoring quality KPI’s and assisting with quality control and process for sub suppliers. This role works closely with stakeholders for product certification from relevant authorities, customers, and third-party inspection agencies. Roles and Responsibilities Design and Implementation of Quality Systems and Procedures • Assist the EVP of Manufacturing with design and implementation of quality systems and assembly procedures of core components and testing Blue Frontier’s air conditioning system • Assist with developing quality control and inspection report formats for materials, components, sub-assemblies from suppliers • Establish and validate safe and efficient assembly procedures. • Hands-on incoming and outgoing quality measurement, checklist and inspection, stage inspection of sub-assemblies. • Create monthly Quality Reports include scraps, warranty, rework, and customer satisfaction data. • Create PPAP’s • Material certification review (MTR Tracking and traceability). • Develop ISO 9001 and 14001 manual, internal/external audits. • Coordinate third party certification audits • Provide shop floor support • Create/revise procedures for new accreditations • Corrective action follow-ups, internal and external • Contract review • Drawing reviews • Reject and ECN disposition • Implement quality alerts for drawing changes • Data sheet creation and review • Participate in Six Sigma, Kaizen and Lean projects/training Process Performance Monitoring and Improvement • Monitor and measure process performance and quality through the production cycle. • Identify opportunities for productivity, efficiency, and quality gains, applying lean manufacturing methodologies and other best practices. • Develop and nurture strong relationships with suppliers, driving continuous improvement. • Define supplier quality standards and requirements. Assess and monitor supplier quality performance. • Resolve supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions by driving root cause analysis. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and evaluate potential new suppliers. • Lead quality assessment in Quarterly Business Reviews and perform onsite Supplier Audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and requirements. Identify areas of improvement for the supplier's processes and products. • Communicate and align quality requirements with internal teams and suppliers. • Stay updated on regulations and standards related to supplier quality. • Provide training and education to suppliers and internal stakeholders on quality standards, requirements, and processes. • Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Business development, Customer Service, and suppliers. Education & Experience • 5+ years relevant industry experience as quality engineer in manufacturing, preferably in HVAC manufacturing, high volume industrial product line area • UL/ETL certification • Develop and execute projects to achieve company targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People (SQDCP) • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering Technical Skills • ASQ CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or related certification in quality engineering principles. • Demonstrated experience analyzing and resolving problems using Six Sigma, Lean, and other problem-solving tools. Six Sigma Green or Black belt certification. • Ability to read and review technical drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM). • Experience with ISO 9001 and UL specifications. • Proficient in Microsoft 365 software tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) • Ability to promote a positive working culture and environment. • CAD and Solid Works experience is a big plus.
