Job Description:

The Pipeline Facilities Engineer provides technical support for operations and projects across pipeline pump stations, metering facilities, storage tank farms, and loading racks. This role is highly autonomous yet embedded in the central engineering team, requiring collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Supply, Business Development, and Engineering. External interactions include equipment vendors and mechanical contractors. Additionally, the Facility Engineer supports the site reliability improvement efforts.

Key Accountabilities:

Reliability Support

  • Champion reliability processes for frontline teams (RCA, PCA, Asset Strategies).

  • Use downtime reports, RCA, and PLA data to resolve issues and improve site reliability.

  • Track and report critical metrics (downtime, availability, utilization, RCA, recommendations).

  • Identify production improvement and upgrade opportunities for aging equipment.

  • Implement Business Improvement Plan (BIP) priorities to improve asset reliability and availability.

  • Lead RCAs, manage actions in GE APM, and initiate failure investigations.

  • Support PCA by collecting data, planning logistics, and maintaining records.

  • Develop and update asset strategies at the asset/pipeline level.

  • Optimize maintenance plans and spare parts' inventory to improve efficiency and equipment effectiveness.

Engineering Support

  • Maintain site presence with strong awareness of asset vulnerabilities and engineering issues.

  • Act as the first point of contact for engineering issues, performing triage and decision-making.

  • Contribute engineering guidance to SOP improvements and infrequent operating procedures.

  • Support site projects with engineering expertise.

Engineering Design

  • Ensure conformance with engineering requirements (ETPs, industry standards, PHMSA regulations).

  • Update engineering drawings and maintain asset documentation.

  • Define safe operating and design limits for pipelines, pumps, PSVs, tanks, and control valves.

  • Review site overrides, defeated safety devices, and alarm management.

  • Perform RV sizing, pipe stress analysis, span length evaluation, wheel load assessment, and MAOP verification.

Integrity Support

  • Provide technical feedback on defect elimination.

  • Ensure equipment integrity inspection plans are in place.

  • Investigate integrity failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Process Safety Support

  • Support HAZOP/LOPA studies, collect documentation, and manage corrective actions.

  • Initiate and coordinate the Management of Change (MoC) process and track action items.

  • Assist in risk management, developing and implementing risk barrier action plans.

  • Support audits and self-verification activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering

  • Over 3 years relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, reliability oriented, integrity and maintenance of facility equipment

  • Experience with engineering industry code and standards

  • Experience on an operating asset.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards.

  • Stakeholder management experience, good interpersonal skills.

  • Highly autonomous

How much do we pay (Base)? ($100,000 - $186,000)

*Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.

This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
