As a Lead- Credit Data & Analytic you will become an active member of the extended global Credit team within bp’s Trading & Shipping business. Your key focus will be to help develop quantitative models and reporting tools and will be given an opportunity to play a key role on a challenging high profile multi-million-dollar systems roadmap. You will be at the cutting edge of data exploration activities in order to help drive efficiencies via automated tools, provide valuable insights as well as solve business problems using data.
Key Accountabilities:
Specific accountabilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Credit Model design, development, testing, calibration and maintenance including PFE, Stress Testing, Default Probabilities, LGD Frameworks plus Credit pricing models, scoring models. CVA and Credit VaR.
- Manage, optimize and maintain ownership of core credit data, analysing large data set’s and producing reports for senior management to show trends, risk concentrations and broader portfolio risks.
- Analyze, visualize and articulate insights from portfolio level metrics and data to key partners.
- Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to Credit function, bp Senior Leadership Team, the wider organisation, auditors and regulators.
- Develop Credit MI, metrics, dashboards and decision tools in order to gain accurate and timely insight into bp’s Credit Risk drivers.
- Leverage a wide variety of mathematical and computer science methods and tools including PowerBI, Python , Structured Query Language (SQL), mathematical finance/ programming and statistics and probability
- Support various technology and systems initiatives, including automation, data integrity, data integration, new systems/tools.
- Develop strong understanding of bp Credit Risk frameworks as well as acquire strong commercial awareness.
- Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results. Engage with key potential partners to articulate the benefits of a data-driven approach.
- Remain up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods.
Required:
- Strong academic background including at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a quantitative field (Quantitative Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Statistics preferred).
- Prior experience in a quantitative role.
- Experience in any of the following software development environments: Python / VBA / SQL / PowerBI.
- Effective listening skills in order to understand business requirements.
- Team-working skills and a collaborative approach to sharing ideas and finding solutions.
- Drive and resilience to try new ideas.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, framing and solving problems in an iterative manner.
- Ability to deliver effectively against BP’s values and expectations against near and long-term objectives.
- Positive demeanor and curious mind.
Desirable:
- Prior experience in financial risk management
- Strong experience in Credit related models with evidence of designing, developing and implementation of such models
- Knowledge of Probability of Default (PD) / Loss Given Default (LGD) / Exposure at Default (EAD)/ PFE modelling
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex business scenarios and produce accurate analysis and MI/Data solutions under pressure.
- Prior exposure to energy commodity trading, credit risk/quant roles 10 years +.
- Experience with using Dataiku or DataBricks platforms.

How much do we pay (Base)? ($120,000 - 222,000 USD Annual) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours[LC1] of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
