The Brand and Communications Manager is the guardian of the brand and will be responsible for ensuring that the products, services and brands that fall under the Castrol Masterbrand are continually enhanced to resonate with current and potential customers and consumers. They will strategize and/or lead the brand team in planning, development and execution to increase brand perception, driving preference, and strengthen Castrol’s competitive position across B2C and B2B2c segments in the U.S, delivering engaging content, and build value and performance of the brands via brand experience and products, particularly within the key Passenger Car Motor Oil ( PCMO) channels (Retail and DIFM).
This senior level leader role requires a well-rounded marketing leader with expertise in consumer marketing, media strategy, and product management.
The role is based in Wayne, New Jersey and has direct reports.
Key accountabilities
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Lead the development and implementation of the national brand strategy aligned with global guidelines and tailored to the U.S. market.
- Champion the Castrol Masterbrand and PCMO Product Power brands (EDGE, GTX, etc.) across all channels and touchpoints.
- Partner with global brand and creative teams to ensure consistency while adapting messaging to local insights and consumer behaviors.
Integrated Marketing Communications Strategy
- Own the integrated marketing communications calendar across paid, owned, and earned media.
- Manage agency relationships for creative development, media planning/buying, and public relations.
- Lead national and regional advertising campaigns, digital activations, influencer programs, and sponsorships (e.g., motorsports, NBA, partnerships).
- Oversee content strategy, creation, and distribution across all platforms (social, digital, POS, etc.).
Media Strategy & Execution
- Own the U.S. media strategy and execution across all platforms: digital, social, OTT, search, TV/radio.
- Lead media agency relationships for planning, buying, measurement, and optimization.
- Define media critical metrics, track performance, and continuously optimize campaigns based on insights and return on investment.
- Explore innovative media partnerships and activations to build awareness and drive consideration.
Retail Marketing Support
- Collaborate with the Sales and Channel Marketing teams to build retail-focused communication strategies and shopper marketing programs for AutoZone, O’Reilly, Walmart, and other key partners.
- Support sell-in storytelling, trade media campaigns, and co-branded retail promotions to drive sell-through and brand visibility.
Consumer & Market Insights
- Leverage consumer, category, and competitive insights to drive strategic decisions.
- Track brand health, campaign performance, and media return on investment using internal analytics and third-party data.
Product Management
- Lead end-to-end product marketing for key consumer-facing lubricant lines, including EDGE, GTX, and specialty SKUs.
- Own product lifecycle planning: innovation pipeline, packaging, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate closely with Technology, Supply Chain, and Sales to manage product introductions, updates, and rationalization.
- Ensure product claims, positioning, and value propositions resonate with U.S. consumers and align with Castrol’s brand purpose.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage a hybrid team (direct team members and Hub team members) and external partners to deliver impactful brand experiences.
- Partner with Sales, Channel Marketing, Sales, Global Brand, Technology teams to align on strategic priorities and messaging.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Marketing
- Substantial experience in B2C and B2B2C marketing activation
- Media & Digital experience or working with Media agencies; Knowledge in social media and CRM
- Passionate about creating experiences for both consumers and customers that highlight brand in engaging and dynamic way
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and handle high volume of work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership and project management
- Previous team management experience
- Great at multi-tasking and delegating, collaboration and teamwork
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in marketing or related field preferred
- Creative thinking, confident, enthusiastic and a talent in story telling
- Product packaging and retail knowledge
- Exposure to PR / Sponsorships would be an advantage; capable of strategic thinking and thought leadership

This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
