About the role
This position reports to the Project Controls Verification and Benchmarking (V&B) Discipline Lead.
As the Senior Benchmarking Engineer, you will be the expert in cost and schedule benchmarking. You will manage and develop our internal benchmarking application, requiring knowledge in technology, data collection, normalization, and visualization.
This hands-on role involves working with various stakeholders, including the digital development and systems transformation teams on system development and maintenance. You will work directly with global project teams to ensure efficient data collection and provide senior decision-makers with benchmarking reports and insights.
What you will deliver
Technical Expertise - Manage the internal benchmarking system including working with the digital technology team in the ongoing development and roll out of the system. Managing user access rights and training in it use.
Data Collection and Analysis – Gather data through various methods including supporting project delivery teams to efficiently collect and validate cost, schedule and technical data for input into both internal and external databases.
Collaboration and Communication – Working with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Project Control, Engineering and Procurement.
Reporting - Creating reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate benchmarking results to partners and provide actionable recommendations
Continuous Improvement – Identifying opportunities to improve the benchmarking process, coach project teams in the use of historical data. Drive standardization across benchmarking by developing standard reporting formats and visuals
Support the verification and benchmarking subject area lead by participating in the project verification reviews.
Support implementation of standard PC process, tools and practices
Document and proactively share lessons learned across projects.
Contribute positively to achieving individual, team and organizational targets.
Provide leadership within the project controls team, working with the cost estimating, planning and cost engineering and systems and transformation sub-disciplines.
Coach and mentor future project controls talent

Must have educational qualifications:

Engineering, Project Management, Finance, technical or equivalent degree
Minimum years of relevant experience:

Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with):
Good level of understanding of the principals of benchmarking and why it is important.
Practical knowledge of cost estimating and planning disciplines
Ability to produce and present high quality written reports and summary presentations
Ability to harness use of digital tools to provide high quality benchmarking reporting
Strong analytical skills with expertise in Microsoft Suite of tools including PowerBi, and ability to adapt quickly to new ‘digital’ technologies
Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise, experience of agile ways of working
Self-motivation and a high level of individual initiative and self-reliance are required.
Ability to communicate and influence across different levels in the organization.
Bias for simplification and efficiency with focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables that meet the needs of the business.
Strong ability to build partnerships, actively engage and respect contributions of others.
Excellent inter-personal skills and behaviours
Good to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job):
Experience of using statistical methods to analyse data
Previous experience in data structures or data management
Experience of working with data based software packages
