About the Role:
The bp US Litigation & Disputes team is seeking an experienced Litigation (civil) Paralegal / Project Manager to provide support to attorneys working on commercial and environmental litigation matters arising out of bp’s operating and divested businesses.
The successful candidate will thrive in a discovery intensive landscape, be detailed oriented and demonstrate strong time-management and organizational skills. This role could manage multiple litigation matters from cradle to grave, which calls for considerable resources and high levels of functional and technical integration.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance and project management support, including issuing and tracking legal holds; managing and organizing the collection of discovery materials pursuant to bp's Discovery Protocol; providing matter budgeting support with regard to discovery costs; locating and interviewing witnesses.
- Function as the project manager for the discovery process in their assigned cases, including managing communication between and among internal counsel, external counsel and discovery vendors; tracking the status of multiple discovery projects; and working closely with the in-house Discovery Team in gathering discovery materials.
- Coordinate and conduct large-scale document (electronic and hard copy) identification, preservation, collection, scanning, coding, review, and production.
- Implement technology, recommended practices and systems that are consistent across global bp to support the continuous improvement of the discovery process
Role Requirements:
A minimum of three years of hands-on experience as a litigation paralegal with experience working on complex litigation matters involving electronic discovery with electronic review and production platforms. In this role you must demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) are required such as the ability to communicate complex technical solutions to non-technical audiences and an ability to communicate clearly concerning legal technology needs related to a particular case.
- Solid understanding of discovery technology, including various types of electronic data, review tools and production of data. Must have experience with electronic discovery in complex litigation and the ability to coordinate and track the movement of electronically stored information (ESI) and hard copy data.
- Project management capability including developing metrics, timeline estimates, serving as an escalation point, and managing legal case team concerns including matter budgeting and forecasting support specifically with regard to discovery costs.
- Ability to manage and coordinate matters in a time-sensitive environment with minimal supervision.
- A high level of professionalism, sound judgement, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Confident at liaising with internal and external partners at all levels in an appropriate manner.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Significant travel (25 – 35%) including international travel may be required to effectively perform the role. Current passport required.
Desirable Experience:
- Paralegal Certification
- 2+ years of trial/courtroom experience
- Relativity, Legal Hold application, LexisNexis experience
- In-house corporate paralegal or major law firm experience
- Environmental (CAA), climate change and / or energy industry experience
- PMP certification
- ACEDS certification
