Intelligence, Security and Crisis Management (ISC) is the overarching function which delivers geo-political insight, security risk management and crisis management to all bp businesses.
The Regional Security Manager’s role exists to lead a team delivering risk management expertise and specialist security advice to all relevant businesses within the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. This role is viewed as the senior level of leadership and is accountable for the delivery of Security Risk Management services of the highest quality, ensuring that threats to company personnel, assets and operations within the region are properly identified, evaluated and managed.
The region comprises countries including but not limited to Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Pakistan, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Senegal, South Africa. The region includes upstream operations across MEA, where high levels of threat and significant levels of operating risk are managed.
You will be an integral part of the Security Leadership Team and there will be opportunities to lead on projects and oversee additional workstreams.
In this role, You will:
Lead security across a large, strategically important and geo-politically complex region
Manage a large, geographically dispersed team and mentor others
Support delivery of deep technical expertise in the production of security solutions
Embed consistent and systematic security management processes
Effectively manage operating risk from tactical, on the ground delivery to operational and strategic guidance, advice and support
Consider the broader impact of your actions on colleagues, community and environment
Assume responsibility for ensuring that the Unified Risk Picture (ISC’s software for managing country and asset level risk) is maintained
Provide management oversight and reporting of security issues
Provide detailed technical security advice to ensure the required barrier strength is maintained and risk is mitigated
Consolidate, prepare and submit risk registers and risk management plans ensuring that Risk Notification and Plan Endorsement (RNPE) forms for emerging security risks are properly dealt with covering narratives, trends, major incidents
Conduct security reviews to ensure the delivery of security measures
Provide regular assessment/update to key partners to update on political events and security risk
Facilitate information exchange with all partners within ISC and the business in relation to security threats across the region including interaction with threat intelligence analysts and advisors
Act as the security representative on emergency or crisis response teams
Ensure compliance with the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR)
Oversee and ensure compliance with procurement and supply chain management (PSCM) standards on security services contracts
Act as point of contact for Project Contractors’ organizations in addressing various security issues, ensuring compliance with bp Security guides, procedures and contractual requirements and with high level performance and delivery of services
Ensure that appropriate security awareness training needs are identified and addressed
Network with those responsible for security across bp on key issues and share standard processes
Provide advice and support to management in the event of a security emergency and volatile periods such as civil unrest, terrorist attacks and kidnap
Provide pre-emptive advice on risk reduction strategies for predicted periods of concern or during major events that could disrupt business
Work collaboratively and inclusively with other internal partners
Manage travel security risk
Establish and maintain close relationships with Public security forces, manage information exchange
What You will need to be successful:
University degree, preferably in an analytical subject, or comparable, relevant professional experience
Fluency in English
Have a minimum of ten years’ experience in a security role with responsibility for security for multiple businesses across a region, including in higher risk areas and in particular in the MEA region
Have extensive experience managing large and diverse teams, dispersed across a wide region
Have extensive expertise in security risk management and conducting security risk assessments
Be experienced and comfortable participating in site and national level leadership team meetings
Be able to discuss in detail security risk assessment and the use of risk management software
Have a strong and proven knowledge of security strategy and implementing physical security practices and technical security measures to include CCTV, access control and management/monitoring systems
Have proven experience in developing policies, protocols, and exercising training to ensure compliance and preparedness
Have experience working with local and national enforcement agencies; experience with international agencies preferred
Have experience of interacting with senior level site managers and successfully influencing security discussions
Have experience with the creation of budgets, cases to support expenditure, & capital project management
Able to communicate and influence effectively
Membership of an appropriate professional security body can be an advantage
Experience of conducting investigations, e.g. fraud or misconduct is an advantage
