Position Summary- License Compliance Specialist

The License Compliance Specialist role will lead the software license compliance efforts in India. This role is responsible for designing and executing strategies to protect the company’s intellectual property, ensure customer compliance with license agreements, and drive revenue recovery through formal and informal engagements. The successful candidate will work closely with legal, sales, finance, and partner teams to enforce compliance programs and build trusted customer relationships.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategic engagement:
    • Develop and execute a regional strategy for software license compliance that aligns with global objectives.

  • License Management:
    • Manage and drive the license compliance pipeline to support revenue growth across the assigned region.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (legal counsel, technical experts, Sales)
    • Identify, investigate, and analyze software license non-compliance using internal tools such as Snowflake, Salesforce, usage reports, and external data sources including LinkedIn and web research.

  • Risk Mitigation & IP Protection:
    • Identify high-risk markets and accounts; proactively address non-compliance risks.
    • Implement best practices to reduce piracy, unauthorized usage, and licensing breaches.

  • Collaboration:
    • Partner with Sales, Legal, and Finance teams to support compliance-related revenue opportunities.
    • Work with local authorities to identify different ways in which Bentley LC can leverage local laws in our engagements.
    • Strategize with local Intellectual property law firms to evaluate the most effective way to resolve EULA infractions.

  • Metrics & Reporting:
    • Establish KPIs for all revenue programs and deliver regular reports to global leadership on progress, risks, and outcomes.


Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience:
    • Overall 5+ years and 3+ years of experience in software license compliance, license audit management, or a related field.
    • Understanding of software licensing models, cloud subscription models, and IP laws.

  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills with knowledge of how to read and report on Excel Spreadsheets and CRM tools.
    • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance compliance enforcement and customer relationship management.
    • Fluency in English is required.
