Boston Metal is revolutionizing the extractive metallurgy industry with a cutting-edge technology aimed at transforming metals production by reducing costs and minimizing the environmental footprint. As we expand rapidly, we are looking for an experienced Training Specialist to join our growing team.

This role is pivotal in supporting our organization’s efforts to mature business processes and commercialize our innovative technology. The Learning and Development Specialist will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining our quality and safety training programs to ensure compliance with the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the Quality and Safety teams to design, develop and deliver a comprehensive training framework that promotes a culture of quality and safety as the company scales.

Responsibilities and Duties

Quality and Safety Management Training

  • Partner with the Quality and Safety teams to design, develop and deliver training programs compliant with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards, as well as the company’s quality and safety policies in a high-temperature industrial setting.
  • Support the development of training plans to address needs and audit readiness expectations.
  • Manage activities and maintain training records in our Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Generate training program metrics to assess the program’s effectiveness and periodically report on them to management.
  • Conduct quality orientation for new employees
  • Maintain an understanding of training trends and best practices.

Audit and Quality Support

  • Participate in the internal audit program.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review training records and documents, for completeness and compliance with global regulations.
  • Manage the storage and archival of all controlled training documents.
  • Adhere to company documentation policies and maintain documentation systems as required

  • Learning & Development: Ability to design and implement effective learning experiences tailored to the needs of a fast-growing, high-tech organization.
  • QMS & Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards and their application in training programs.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality, engineering, and operations, to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies that drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience developing and delivering training programs for ISO standards, particularly ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in learning and development supporting quality and safety management
  • Proficient in developing and delivering technical training materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Education, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of competency management, employee development, and adult learning principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of delivering training to a wide audience, from technical staff to executive management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Education, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • Experience with eQMS or other digital training and compliance systems.
  • Experience assisting with internal audits related to quality, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Design of Experiment (DOE) methodologies.
  • Ability to speak Brazilian Portuguese a plus.

You will be working in a small team environment where teamwork and good relationships with other team members are critical. We operate pilot plants and labs and many of our staff members are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and you should be prepared to do so as well when necessary.
