IT Project Manager

Boston Metal is commercializing a cutting-edge extractive metallurgy technology that will revolutionize the steel industry by producing “green steel” without CO2 emissions. Due to our growing size and initiatives we are in need of an IT project manager to directly manage various IT capital projects focused on supporting our expanding engineering, R&D, finance, and legal efforts. This role is within the Project Management Office (PMO) but will be embedded within the IT team. This position will report directly to the PMO Director.
Responsibilities:
- Create and manage schedules and budgets for several projects in accordance with departmental KPIs defined by the PMO Annual Plan.
- Work closely with managers and members across departments to coordinate priorities, track project progress, identify and escalate risks, and ensure smooth project execution.
- Work closely with the PMO Director to establish, disseminate, and enforce existing and new process standards and project management best practices – including implementing new Quality Management System policies being rolled out by the Quality group.
- Proactively identify and resolve problems impacting projects.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of IT project management experience is required (experience in a PMO is a plus)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, IT, or management (advanced degree is a plus)
- Experience using Microsoft Project is required
- Proactive attitude to identify and solve problems is required
- Portuguese language skills are highly preferred
- PMP certification is highly preferred
- Experience leading or coordinating projects involving cross-functional groups is highly preferred
- Experience writing reports and formal communication with senior leadership is highly preferred
- Professional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are vital, including presentation and public speaking skills
Physical Demands
- The employee must be able to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required by the specific work activity which may include: N95 mask or respirator; various types of gloves/hand protection; safety shoes; head protection; and protective clothing.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop or crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee has potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals and/or hazardous waste, and occasional exposure to moving equipment, the risks of which are minimized through compliance with established use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety policies and procedures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
