Position Overview:
We're looking for a fast-paced, meticulous designer with a stellar eye and an enthusiasm for making important work beautiful. As the first full-time designer on the Bright Harbor team, you'll spend most of your time helping our team reach and educate as many disaster survivors as possible, partnering with our content team to tell compelling stories visually and helping make our digital channels–social, web, you name it–places worth visiting. (But bonus points if you want to chip in on UI/UX, too.)
The ideal candidate has experience as an early graphic designer hire at a startup, with success in content ideation and creation. This role is based in our office in Austin, Texas.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce High-Volume Marketing Collateral: Produce engaging visual content across platforms, including marketing materials, digital assets, and print collateral to promote Bright Harbor's services. Bonus points for video editing experience.
Create and manage the creative pipeline: You love a good process and can bring in help as necessary to create amazing experiences on-time. Don't know how to make your own motion graphics? You can get somebody, and manage the relationship.
Brand Consistency: Lead efforts to maintain and evolve Bright Harbor's visual identity, ensuring cohesive design across all touch points.
Crisis Visual Communication: Serve as Bright Harbor's visual communicator during disasters, quickly producing impactful graphics for timely information dissemination. You love clarity AND beautiful design.
Contractor Management: Skilled at identifying, recruiting, and managing specialized design contractors (e.g., motion graphics artists, 3D designers, illustrators) to expand creative capabilities and manage end-to-end content creation pipeline.
[Bonus] User Experience Design: Collaborate with product and marketing teams to enhance visual aspects of user interfaces and customer touch points.
Qualifications:
Design Expertise: Strong background in graphic design, branding, and digital media, with a proven portfolio of impactful visual work.
Startup Experience: History of evolving brand identity from early-stage to rapid growth, ideally contributing to overall visual strategy development.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate complex ideas into clear visual concepts, and develop strategies for visual brand growth.
Multi-platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience creating designs for various mediums, including digital, print, and environmental graphics.
Exceptional Visual Communication: Adept at conveying messages and emotions through visual elements, with a keen eye for typography, color, and composition.
Software Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard design software and emerging design technologies.
Adaptable and Responsive: Comfortable with a fast-paced environment, able to produce high-quality designs under tight deadlines.
