About Us
Cambium is a modern American wood manufacturer, distributor, and technology company connecting and modernizing the wood economy. We work with architects, builders, and leading brands across the built environment, including Amazon, Room & Board, and Equinox. Our work has been recognized by Time's Best Inventions and Fast Company's Innovation by Design Awards. Technology is how we match supply to demand across a fragmented industry.
The American hardwood industry has lost more than half its sawmills in the last two decades. Quality trees go to waste, and the US imports more lumber than it produces, even though domestic capacity could meet nearly all of our needs. Until now, this industry forced a choice: local relationships or national scale, meaningful materials or modern efficiency. We don't think those are real tradeoffs. We're building the infrastructure to prove it, with modern software, better supply chains, and a clear view of what comes next: a wood economy that's local, efficient, and built to last.
About This Role
As Senior Director of Product at Cambium, you'll be the most senior product leader in the company — owning the vision, roadmap, and product process across our entire platform. You'll work extremely closely with the CEO and VP of Engineering to shape product strategy, and you'll be responsible for how clearly and consistently that strategy is communicated across every team. You'll manage our Senior Product Manager and The Senior Product Designer while also rolling up your sleeves and doing IC product management work.
Cambium operates across the full wood supply chain — logistics, sustainability data infrastructure, enterprise relationships — all moving at once. You'll own product across buyer-facing experiences, supplier-facing tools like Mill Market, and the data layer that ties it together. This role is ideal for a generalist product leader with a startup or founder background who thrives in complexity, leads with AI-first thinking, and treats the product like their own business.
What You'll Do Here
Own the product vision and roadmap across Cambium's platform. Partner with the CEO and VP of Engineering to keep it sharp, cohesive, and grounded in business strategy and technical reality.
Own product communication across the company. Build and run the rituals — roadmap reviews, launch comms, planning readouts — that keep every team aligned on what's being built and why. Co-own these with the Senior PM.
Be a player-coach. Manage and develop our Senior Product Manager — a domain expert whose knowledge you'll lean on heavily and help grow — and our Senior Product Designer. Work as a tight unit with both to drive discovery, design, and delivery.
Bring an AI-first perspective to everything — both in your own workflow and in Cambium's product vision, from supply chain matching to automated reporting to surfacing insights.
Drive product-market fit and growth across Mill Market, Client Dashboards, and future platforms — owning acquisition, activation, retention, and cross-functional experimentation.
Lead discovery and research across both sides of our marketplace, and translate insights into clear product requirements.
Your Skill Sets and Capabilities Include
8–12+ years in product management, 4+ in a senior/lead role at an early-stage startup.
Track record of owning product end-to-end across multiple surfaces in complex, multi-sided businesses.
Comfortable planning and conducting discovery research — forming evidence-based hypotheses, not just gut-driven roadmaps — especially in early-stage product areas where the problem space is still being defined.
Exceptional at product communication — you've built the rituals and cadences that keep an entire company aligned on product direction, not just the product team.
AI-forward: you use AI tools daily and have conviction about where AI meaningfully improves product experiences.
Technically fluent — comfortable in architecture, API, and data modeling conversations.
Experience managing PMs and designers, with a genuine investment in their growth.
Nice to Have
Experience in workflow software, logistics, supply chain, or marketplace platforms.
Experience at a climate- or sustainability-focused company.
Founder background a plus.
An excellent sense of humor. Our team is fun and playful!
