Basic Function

The Senior Project Manager must be a proactive problem solver capable of managing internal and external resources to deliver multi-component wastewater-to-energy plants to customers on time and on budget. The role includes oversight of site engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning, supported by internal and external project team­ members. Provides overall strategic governance for projects by establishing standards, processes, and tools for effective project management throughout the project lifecycle.

This candidate will be able to perform a variety of project management and field engineering tasks, including management of site engineering and system installation, coordination with equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and customers. The Senior Project Manager will have experience in water, wastewater, food and beverage manufacturing, chemical process design, or similar fields, and familiarity with the basics of industrial and municipal wastewater treatment equipment.

Typical Duties

  • Manage internal resources, external subcontractors, and consultants to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Coordinate with design-build contractors responsible for EPC contracts
  • Project budget updates and reporting
  • Plan, sequence, and maintain project schedules with the support of engineering and subcontractors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers from the commercial handoff to COD, including coordinating submittals, on-site work, and milestone payments.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select subcontractors to perform work required to deliver projects effectively
  • Coordinate with the internal engineering team to effectively allocate internal engineering resources to projects.
  • Responsible for efficient project engineering, and the authority to prioritize engineering resources within a project team for project delivery, determine which work must be completed at each stage of project delivery, and facilitate the professional development of junior engineers and operators.
  • Manage project documentation, including determining which documentation is required for a given project, ensuring that proper revisions are made throughout the delivery process, and establishing standards that are in line with industry.
  • Coordinate with governing authorities to fulfill the requirements for permits, inspections, and final project approval.
  • Respond to escalated project issues that may impede project delivery and co-ordinate solutions
  • Analyze Project Metrics to identify weaknesses or problems and propose operational improvements and or cost savings to mitigate these problems.
  • Manage system installations as the primary project manager with oversight responsibility for engineering firms and subcontractors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, environmental, mechanical, marine, facilities engineering, construction management, or similar, master’s or advanced degree a plus, preference given to licensed engineers
  • 7+ years with total project responsibility for complex equipment systems of at least $5-10 million dollars
  • 7+ years' experience working with vendors, customers and trades including electrical, piping and construction personnel.
  • Top-notch project management skills and use of project management tools including Microsoft Project.
  • Superb ability to interact with customers, including strong communication and presentation skills, affable, and demonstrated maturity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated experience in process engineering problem solving and system integration, preferably in the food and beverage processing or wastewater industries.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to exhibit strong leadership ability and have a professional demeanor
  • Proactive, problem-solving personality required
  • Experience in the wastewater or food and beverage manufacturing industries of equipment systems that use aerobic and/or anaerobic digestion technology to treat wastewater, and the subsystems that support them
