Position Scope
Working within the finance and accounting team, as the Payroll Administrator, you support the Manager, Accounting to manage the day-to-day payroll functions of the organization. As a Payroll & HRIS Administrator you will oversee all payroll and payroll related month-end activities for the organization. You will be on a team of experienced CPAs who will be able to provide mentorship while also getting the opportunity to pass your knowledge down to junior team members working towards their own designations. The ideal candidate will be collaborative within a highly cross-functional team and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment.
This position is based in Squamish, BC, with the possibility of a hybrid position for those based in Vancouver.
Responsibilities
Payroll (90%)
- Reconcile and process payroll and ensure compliance with applicable employment standards
- Prepare payroll journal entries
- Maintain CE’s payroll solution (Ceridian Dayforce), including configuration changes and year-end updates and checklists
- Ensure CE employees are trained and supported on timekeeping and payroll by creating video tutorials, written standard operating procedures and providing training sessions
- Support HR with onboarding, offboarding and maintenance of CE’s group benefit plan
- Administer CE’s Group RRSP (Registered retirement savings plans)
- Annual T4 reconciliations
- Annual Vacation pay reconciliations
- Ad-hoc reporting for management and revenue purposes
- Complete WCB and EHT filings and maintain working papers
- Complete period end payroll related working papers (E. g. Accruals)
- Cross train junior team members on payroll processing
- Provide a high level of customer service to CE’s employees for all payroll related inquires
Other (10%)
- Assist the Manager, Accounting in training and mentoring of the accounting team as it relates to payroll.
- Other projects as needed.
- Learning opportunity to cross train and learn other areas of accounting if of interest.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree or certificate in relevant field.
- National Payroll Institute designation (PCP, PLP) would be considered an asset
Experience:
- 3-5 years' minimum experience in a payroll related role
- Experience working with ERP software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics or SAP
- Experience working Ceridian Dayforce
Key Competencies
- High attention to detail
- Self-learner who can work under limited supervision
- Proficient in the use of MS Office
- Working knowledge of payroll systems, processes, BC ESA, and CRA rules
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, preferably IFRS
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
Offers and Benefits
Carbon Engineering offers a competitive compensation package including extended health benefits. Base Salary for an Intermediate level role is $60,435 to $79,000 with additional bonus pay.
