Phoenix, AZ, USA
Posted on Thursday, June 6, 2024
Interested in working with a groundbreaking company that’s focused on decarbonizing the atmosphere? CarbonCapture Inc. develops and deploys direct air capture (DAC) machines that can be connected in large arrays to remove massive amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. With a patented modular open systems architecture, our DAC platform allows for plug-and-play upgrades, mass production, unlimited scalability, and rapid technology iterations.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will oversee the entire product manufacturing process, from module assembly to final testing. Key responsibilities include supporting the manufacturing build plan, managing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI) for all product builds, and continuously improving the manufacturing process as it evolves. The engineer will offer critical feedback to the product design team and develop essential tooling to support manufacturing, ensuring the company's production ramp goals are met. Although primarily based in Phoenix, this role will involve occasional travel to CarbonCapture’s headquarters in Los Angeles for training and product support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document manufacturing processes, including inspection and testing, for prototype Direct Air Capture modules.
  • Participate in product design reviews, offering essential manufacturing feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address large-scale production challenges.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery standards.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability with design engineers in a dynamic production environment.
  • Resolve product non-conformances and implement corrective actions with the quality team.
  • Partner with test engineers to develop testing methods.
  • Plan and execute equipment, machinery, and layout upgrades to meet production demands.
  • Optimize manufacturing floor layouts, capacity models, and product flow for timely delivery.
  • Enhance efficiency by planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Generate manufacturing reports by analyzing prototype build data.
  • Transfer manufacturing methods to high-volume production sites.
  • Maintain documentation of product and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and manage product ramp-up schedules.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Proficient in reading and revising product assembly drawings.
  • Skilled in CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, Catia).
  • Experienced with PLM and MES systems.
  • Expertise in sheet metal fabrication and electrical wire management.
  • Strong background in manufacturing, product design review, and product launch.

Desired Background

  • Extensive experience in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Skilled in transitioning complex products from R&D to high-volume production.
  • Hands-on experience with product development, including prototype builds and product launches.
  • Expertise in writing work instructions and procedures for critical parts.
  • Strong analytical, verbal communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
