Location: Nova Scotia preferred; Atlantic Canada, Ontario or Quebec also considered for the ideal candidate

Position Type: Full-Time, permanent

Salary Range: $100,000-120,000 CAD

About CarbonRun

CarbonRun is a fast-growing, venture-backed climate technology company developing river alkalinity enhancement (RAE) projects that improve watershed health while generating high-integrity, durable carbon dioxide removal.

We partner with communities, utilities, conservation groups, and governments to restore ecosystems and deliver measurable climate impact. CarbonRun has early commercial projects currently operating and under construction, alongside a pipeline of projects in active development and pre-development across Canada and globally, supported by committed offtakes and capital partners to enable execution and growth.

About the Role

We are hiring a Project Engineer to support both engineering execution and project management across CarbonRun’s dosing infrastructure and pilot-to-commercial projects. This is a hands-on builder role for someone who wants to work with the CTO and network of third party partners to design systems, support EPC execution, and help coordinate the people, information, and timelines required to get projects built.

Reporting to the CTO, this role is the execution engine for CarbonRun’s infrastructure projects. Working with the CTO, you will own day-to-day project coordination, develop system blueprints, drive RFP and procurement processes, and serve as the primary point of contact with EPC vendors moving projects from design through commissioning with precision and follow-through.

This role is ideal for an engineer who wants exposure to real-world infrastructure delivery and is interested in growing into a hybrid engineering and project execution path.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering and EPC Support

  • Develop system blueprints for dosing and related infrastructure including P&IDs, equipment layouts, and equipment selection under the technical direction of the CTO
  • Coordinate EPC execution activities, including managing RFP processes, coordinating engineering inputs from vendors and consultants, and supporting construction planning
  • Lead day-to-day procurement coordination: issue RFPs, manage vendor submittals, compare technical options, review quotes, and maintain procurement logs tracking costs and lead times
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact with EPC contractors, fabricators, installers, and service providers, escalating key technical decisions to the CTO and assisting with solutions
  • Lead field commissioning and startup activities at new and existing sites, including on-site execution support and documentation of commissioning records
  • Own the development and maintenance of design documentation, SOPs, commissioning plans, and as-built records across assigned projects

Project Management and Execution Support

  • Own day-to-day project execution tracking: maintain scope, schedule, and budget logs for assigned workstreams and report status to the CTO
  • Coordinate internal teams and external contractors to keep workstreams moving, resolving day-to-day blockers, and escalating strategic issues to the CTO
  • Maintain project trackers, action lists, schedules, and meeting notes with the Science, Business Development, and Business Operations teams to ensure clarity and follow-through
  • Support risk identification and issue resolution by flagging schedule, cost, or technical concerns early
  • Assist with preparing technical, schedule, and cost inputs required for internal investment decisions and external financing or partnership discussions
  • Capture lessons learned from project execution and feed them back into future designs and delivery plans

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical, civil, environmental, or related discipline) and active Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Strong interest in hands-on engineering, infrastructure delivery, and project execution
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, piping, instrumentation, and how engineered systems fit together
  • Ability to organize work, track tasks, and manage competing priorities
  • Clear, professional communication skills and comfort working with contractors and third-party service providers
  • Practical mindset with an understanding that cost, schedule, safety, and quality are core business drivers
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks) with the ability to review, edit, and produce basic engineering drawings

Valued Attributes

  • Experience supporting EPC, construction, commissioning, or industrial projects
  • Exposure to project coordination or project management responsibilities, formal or informal
  • Comfort splitting time between office-based planning and field-based execution
  • Ability to translate technical work into clear updates for non-technical stakeholders
  • Self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion
  • Interest in climate solutions, infrastructure, and applied engineering

Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package where you will be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. Plus, we offer:

  • Canadian Group benefits plan including:
  • Extended health care
  • Dental care
  • Life and dependent life insurance
  • Long-term disability and accidental death and dismemberment coverage
  • Employee and Family Assistance Plan
