Who we are…
CERT Systems Inc (CERT) is on a mission to transform the way the world's most important chemicals are made. Our breakthrough electrochemical route to convert captured CO2 into
valuable fuels and chemical feedstocks means that we can help the planet avoid over 500 million tonnes of emissions by 2040.
Who YOU are…
You cannot wait to get hands-on in the lab - you love running experiments, analyzing data, and working independently. A start-up environment is exciting to you because you'll be able to collaborate with others to create and test a tangible product output. You are also mission-driven; you care about climate change, and you want to use your skills to help be part of a global solution.
The successful candidate will:
- Participate in catalyst design, gas diffusion electrode engineering, membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabrication, and electrolyzer engineering and testing.
- Use materials engineering skills to synthesize new catalyst inks, as well as optimize the performance and the deposition procedures for spray coating, blade coating etc.
- Troubleshoot electrolyzer performance and develop experimental plans.
- Conduct experiments with CO2 electrolyzers, analyze data (gas chromatography, NMR, etc.), and compile results in various formats independently (presentation, reports, etc.).
- Aid in the scale up of CO2 electrolyzers from lab scale to pilot.
- Develop and test product separation schemes.
- Communicate results at regular update meetings (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and compile reports on experiments.
- Aid in developing standard operating procedures.
Required skills:
- The ideal applicant will have excellent marks from chemical, nanotechnology, mechanical, or related programs.
- They will demonstrate excellent teamwork skills, organizational and time management skills, communication skills, and hands-on experimental skills.
- Wet lab experience is preferred, electrochemistry experience is an asset.
