Company Overview
CivilGrid is a venture-backed SaaS construction tech company building the "Google Maps for the Underground." Come help us disrupt a $4.7T US industry segment that desperately needs innovation. This opportunity has tremendous upside as it scales.
CivilGrid aggregates public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data. The consolidated information is sold via our collaborative SaaS mapping platform to engineers and developers who need it to make early-stage decisions on real estate and infrastructure projects. Real time data access reduces labor and project delays, accelerates decision making and reduces project risk. Collaborative features ensure faster information flow and decisioning inside and outside the organization and better project insight retention over time.
Position Description
CivilGrid’s Data team uncovers and manages the foundational datasets underlying the CivilGrid app. In this role, you’ll join a group within the Data team laser-focused on delivering insights from engineering record drawings and as-builts.
In this role, you will:
Coordinate digitization tasks and workflows, ensuring alignment on timelines and priorities with stakeholders.
Provide detailed markup and interpretation of utility engineering records and as-builts.
Conduct quality assurance on digitized deliverables.
Interface with subcontractors, internal teams, and customers to facilitate smooth project execution and process scaling.
Collaborate closely with Data and Customer Success leadership to refine operational processes.
This role is ideal for someone who is eager to get their hands dirty with utilities data, learn quickly in a variety of technical and management areas, and grow in a fast-moving startup environment.
Who You Are:
-
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering
Preferred: master's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering
Highly preferred: experience with GIS and/or CAD software (ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation)
Preferred: Prior internship at an ENR500 engineering firm or utility agency. You've worked with utilities or construction in some form already.
Meticulous optimizer: you are highly organized and process-driven. When given a task, you create a framework and a system, and you implement it. You thrive in structure when given one, but you can also create your own out of nothing.
Autonomous and self-motivated: you're comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision; you know when to ask questions, but otherwise you're full speed ahead. You value autonomy, creativity, and impact in your first full-time role.
Computer nerd - you're always tinkering with new tools and you have incredibly quick hands. Literal, raw speed at doing operations on the desktop is highly valued for this role and you'll be tested on this during the interview process.
You chose to be a civil engineer because you care about transforming our aging infrastructure to meet today's massive challenges in energy delivery, housing, climate resilience, and more. You're pursuing a career in construction tech so you can impact these challenges at scale.
