Company Description
CivilGrid is a venture-backed SaaS construction tech company building the "Google Maps for the Underground." Come help us disrupt a $4.7T US industry segment that desperately needs innovation. This opportunity has tremendous upside as it scales.
CivilGrid aggregates public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data. The consolidated information is sold via our collaborative SaaS mapping platform to engineers and developers who need it to make early-stage decisions on real estate and infrastructure projects. Real time data access reduces labor and project delays, accelerates decision making and reduces project risk. Collaborative features ensure faster information flow and decisioning inside and outside the organization and better project insight retention over time.
Role Description
This role is ideal for someone ready to step into a senior individual contributor seat with real ownership, bringing both technical credibility and the operational instincts to help build something from the ground up.
CivilGrid’s Data team uncovers and manages the foundational datasets underlying the CivilGrid app. In this role, you’ll be a key early hire for a new group within the Data team laser-focused on delivering insights from engineering record drawings and as-builts.
In this role, you will:
Own and drive digitization workflows end-to-end, setting priorities, managing timelines, and holding stakeholders accountable.
Serve as a technical authority on utility engineering records and as-builts, providing expert markup, interpretation, and guidance to junior team members.
Establish and maintain quality assurance standards for digitized deliverables.
Lead subcontractor and internal team coordination, with a focus on building repeatable, scalable processes.
Partner directly with Data and Customer Success leadership to identify process gaps and implement operational improvements.
Who You Are:
4+ years of experience in project management within subsurface utility engineering (SUE).
Preferred: Background as a field technician and/or utilities research coordinator, giving you hands-on context that translates into better process design.
Deep proficiency with project management tools and methodologies, including stakeholder reporting, cross-functional coordination, and timeline ownership.
Strong ability to interpret and QA civil engineering plans, record drawings, and as-builts with a high degree of accuracy.
Experienced with GIS and/or CAD software (ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation).
A systems thinker who proactively identifies inefficiencies and builds toward scale.
Highly organized, self-directed, and effective working remotely across distributed teams.
Energized by early-stage environments where you can shape the work, not just execute it.
