Summary:

Cobalt AI uses automation to elevate physical safety and security in the workplace. Our platform, Cobalt Monitoring Intelligence, is a hybrid AI system, cloud-hosted with edge-deployed hardware, that provides human-verified, real-time monitoring of surveillance cameras, alarms, and robots across enterprise locations.

We’re seeking a Senior Integrations Engineer to own the integrations that make autonomous security monitoring work. You will manage the connections between Cobalt’s platform and our customers' enterprise security ecosystems, including access control, alarms, video, and ticketing tools, spanning everything from legacy on-premise hardware to modern cloud APIs. This is a foundational ownership role with clear potential to shape the future of our integration strategy, including upcoming architectural migrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of the integration service lifecycle, including reliability, roadmap execution, and long-term technical vision.
  • Architect and maintain an asynchronous Python-based service connecting to client systems (ACS, VMS, and alarms) via REST, MQTT, and SignalR.
  • Expand integration capabilities through new connectors and webhook handlers designed for large-scale enterprise event ingestion.
  • Develop outbound layers to orchestrate automated responses, such as lockdowns and security escalations, within customer ecosystems.
  • Monitor system health using alerting and retry logic to ensure resilient performance and graceful degradation of dependencies.
  • Construct test harnesses and mock environments to debug complex issues across third-party APIs and legacy on-premise hardware.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineering and internal stakeholders to scope technical requirements and drive new integrations.
  • Act as a primary technical responder for integration-specific incidents, performing deep-dive debugging across vendor platforms.
  • Lead strategic migrations to Kubernetes and identify opportunities to integrate new communication and notification technologies.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with significant time spent on integrations, platform work, or API development
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including async programming (asyncio, aiohttp, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with third-party APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures across diverse vendors
  • Experience building resilient integration pipelines, including retry logic, backoff strategies, health monitoring, and graceful degradation
  • Systematic debugging skills, tracing problems across your platform, a third-party API, and a customer's on-premise hardware, with comfort working through inconsistent vendor documentation, legacy protocols, and customer-specific configurations
  • A track record of taking ownership of a service or system and improving its reliability over time
  • Comfort instrumenting and operating services with metrics and tracing (Datadog or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployments like ECS

Nice to Haves:

  • Kubernetes or EKS experience
  • Physical security systems (LenelS2, Genetec, Brivo, C•CURE, Netbox, Acre) or other enterprise ACS/VMS platforms
  • Streaming and eventing protocols such as SignalR, MQTT, and WebSocket
  • Django and webhook-handler experience
  • Experience with GraphQL APIs for internal use
  • Enterprise multi-tenant SaaS experience, and SOC 2 or GDPR-aware development
  • Experience and/or interest in Rust language

Why Work for Us?:

Competitive salary, equity, and full benefits (medical, vision, dental). Flexible work arrangements. A proven platform, an expanding customer base, and the opportunity to shape the engineering org at an inflection point.
