About Crux
We make clean energy finance more efficient and interconnected.
Energy demand is rising for the first time in decades, driving an urgent need for more infrastructure to deliver affordable and reliable electricity. New infrastructure requires strong and secure domestic supply chains for minerals and components, as well as large amounts of capital. Connecting to the necessary financing at each stage of a project lifecycle can present challenges for developers and manufacturers, however.
Crux is the capital markets platform changing the way clean energy and manufacturing projects are financed in the U.S. Our first offering is the leading platform for the large and rapidly growing market of energy and manufacturing tax credits. For the first time, these credits are transferable, creating a powerful new market mechanism to drive abundant clean energy and a strong domestic supply chain. Since its founding in 2023, Crux has facilitated billions of dollars in transferable tax credit transactions.
Our team of 30+ is composed of experts in energy, financial markets, government, marketplaces, and workflow software. We have raised ~$27 million in capital from some of the best investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Overture, Ardent Venture Partners, QED, Canapi, and others. These funds are joined by strategic investors including Pattern Energy, Clearway Energy, EDF Renewables, Intersect Power, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, and others who collectively generate billions of dollars of tax credits annually.
Clean energy finance by the numbers:
160% increase in power demand from data centers by 2030, according to Goldman Sachs
95% of the increase in global power capacity through 2026 will be clean energy, according to the IEA
-
$500B+ estimated credits to be monetized through 2030, according to Credit Suisse
Who we’re looking for
We are hiring a Senior Product Designer to own our core transferable tax credit experience – making the market evermore efficient, transparent & liquid. The traditional process for transacting transferable tax credits is manual & onerous: from pairing supply with demand, negotiating high-level economic terms, conducting diligence, and finalizing legal agreements. We’ve built a product that solves parts of that problem but now need to expand its breadth & depth in a rigorous, analytical way.
If done right, we believe there’s an opportunity to make this experience software-driven, where the core of the experience is done on the Crux platform, while our experienced markets & transactions team can focus their energy on the most complex buyers, sellers & advisors in the market. We believe that a seamless user experience is critical to succeeding in that mission, and we’re looking for somebody to own that.
This designer will work in close collaboration with our experienced engineering, product & customer-facing teams to express the vision & help bring it to life.
All the while, we’re centering building a company where we:
Care for each other: We want to work on a team where people support each other - in their growth, in their work, and towards our shared mission. When we do that, we have fun.
Build and improve rapidly: The thing we can best control is our pace of learning and pace of execution. We can’t control the market, regulators, or what competitors do. One of the best ways to move rapidly is to focus, and consistently ask ourselves if we are prioritizing the right things and executing them as best as possible.
Focus unremittingly on customers: Developers, manufacturers & their advisors are doing critical work to accelerate renewable energy development. Our obligation is to them first, and we must keep their needs front & center in everything we do.
Demonstrate ownership: We are all owners of Crux. This is our team, our company, our product and we show that to each other.
Convene a team that reflects the breadth of experiences in the country: We expect everyone to actively help us build a team where people of all backgrounds can thrive. This applies in hiring, people policies, how we interact - and connects closely with caring for each other.
What you’ll do
Own the core user journey on the Crux transferable tax credit platform: a suite of tools that allow developers & manufacturers to list their credits, negotiate with buyers, prepare for a transaction, and then execute that transaction seamlessly
Eliminate friction throughout that experience to continuously make it more efficient, transparent & liquid
Leverage our industry-leading data to guide your UX decision-making, and weave that data throughout the product in ways that make the experience better
Collaborate directly with our customer-facing teams to validate those solutions, and with our engineers to implement them
Help us build Crux by telling us where we can improve: for our customers, as a team, and as a company
