What you will do:

As a Process Technician I on the Process Engineering team, you will contribute to the building of equipment and the testing of chemical and hydrometallurgical processes across a variety of scales, from bench-scale proof-of-concept to Electra’s iron-refining pilot plant.

In this role you will:

  • Operate a variety of chemical/hydrometallurgical process equipment, including pumps, mixers, filtration, heat exchangers, and conveyors
  • Collect data from experiments and perform analytical chemistry techniques, such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to implement new processes and automate existing ones
  • Analyze results to make decisions and inform design work
  • Commission and troubleshoot new equipment
  • Develop and execute standard operating procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment and lead safety assessments of new equipment and operations
  • Other duties as assigned

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • Associate's degree in a science or engineering field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • 2 years of related industry experience in an R&D or chemical production environment
  • Experience implementing safety measures for gas- and liquid-based processes
  • Hands-on experience operating and/or modifying chemical process equipment
  • Familiarity with fluid power systems (pumps, valves, heat exchange equipment, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate findings

What we want you to bring to the team:

  • Experience with power tools and light fabrication to build custom apparatus
  • Experience with analytical chemistry techniques such as titration, pH measurement, and sample preparation

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to operate the following equipment and tools: basic hand and power tools such as wrenches, drills, and saws

Compensation:

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $24.00-$34.00 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education
