What you will do:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of our production processes for Electra’s electrochemical cells. This includes creating innovative manufacturing techniques, designing and constructing jigs and fixtures, and conducting extensive prototyping and process development in machine shops and manufacturing areas. This candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring our products are manufactured to the highest standards of quality, cost-efficiency, and performance. In this role you will:

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of electrochemical cell manufacturing processes.
  • Design of fixtures, jigs, assemblies, and prototypes in Solidworks.
  • Interface with manufacturing staff on the shop floor, such as technicians and machinists, to develop and maintain manufacturing processes.
  • Work directly with the Stack Engineering and Quality teams to ensure final assemblies meet functional requirements as described in Functional Requirements Documents and Engineering Drawings.
  • Operation of machine tools such as Band Saws, Vertical Mills, Lathes, and Welders.
  • Utilize CAD to prepare detailed drawings for components manufactured in-house and outside vendors.
  • Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What we need you to bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field of study; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Experience in flow battery, electrolyzer, or fuel cell manufacturing process development.
  • Advanced understanding of DFM and NPI methodologies to ensure novel prototypes have pathways to scalable products
  • A desire to be in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment with the ability to challenge yourself and take on increasing responsibilities as the company grows
  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainability, will thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting, be self-motivated, and have an interest in disruptive, innovative technology
  • Strong Experience utilizing common fabrication techniques (i.e. welding, machining, soldering, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • A safety-first mindset; sharing potential risks with others before they result in hazardous outcomes

Compensation:

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 annually and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
