Role Description:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to standardize our accounting systems, manage the accounting department, optimize reporting processes to our Board of Directors and executive team, enhance interdepartmental tracking and communication and ensure our tax reporting is compliant with all state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading successful accounting teams at startups and a deep understanding of GAAP and tax compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly/Quarterly general ledger reconciliation
  • Strategic Financial Management: Oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures
  • Analyze financial data, to drive informed decision-making, identifying areas for improvement and implementing action plans to enhance financial performance
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for both internal stakeholders and external partners, showcasing the financial health and progress of the institution
  • Develop multi-year financial forecasts, meticulously identifying risks and opportunities to optimize financial outcomes
  • Review and analyze established budgets between departments, ensuring detailed cost allocation measures are defined. Have an eye for cost optimization and ensuring accurate projections
  • Oversee the input of project expenses in relation to production purchase orders and balance revenues to ensure projects are running within budget.
  • Implement effective cash handling procedures, conduct reconciliations, and maintain inventory and cost control measures
  • Participate in management meetings, leveraging your financial expertise to support strategic initiatives and build positive relationships with key stakeholders
  • Proactively resolve accounting and reconciliation issues, while driving process enhancements and orchestrating special projects to drive operational efficiency
  • Oversee company equity tracking systems and other administrative functions tied to financial reporting

Required skills and qualifications

  • CPA Certification
  • 5+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong desire to continually improve established processes
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or construction accounting
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
