The Role:
Electric Era is designing, building, and testing high power, battery-enabled charging stations to provide the necessary infrastructure needed for the affordable and timely electrification of transportation. Our high power EV charging stations are a critical piece of infrastructure for the electrical grid and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will own critical structural, fluid, and thermal systems that enable our safe, high-performance, and affordable charging stations. You will have direct ownership of subassemblies and will design with attention to cost analysis, design for manufacturing, regulatory requirements. You will work closely with Electric Era engineering leadership to develop high performance hardware and improve your skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis and simulation spanning structural, thermal, fluid, and electrical domains
- Design components, tooling, and manufacturing strategies for your subsystems
- Manage suppliers and lifecycle part procurement and build costs, including tooling design
- Support testing, instrumentation, and data analysis of key assemblies
- Analyze thermal and vibration environments and design for a lifetime of outdoor exposure
- Document and report key design criteria and test results in in design reviews
- Research and understand key regulatory & certification requirements and their impact on design
Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
- Rising Sophomore or above with 3.5+ GPA in Mechanical Engineering or related course of study
- Previous design/build/test project experience in classroom or extracurricular settings
- Strong personal project portfolio demonstrating academic and practical capability
- Hands on building, machining, and manufacturing experience
- Previous internship, research, or other business experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
