Asset Management Internship

As a leading cleantech developer, Fervo is dedicated to driving the transformation of the renewable energy industry, and we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Asset Management Intern to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience in commercial asset management and is at the intersection of power trading, customer engagement, commercial strategy, and plant operations. Responsibilities include the development of financial models and market strategies to optimize the value of the Geothermal Power Assets in the California’s Independent System Operator (CAISO). The internship provides unique insight into the effort required to bring a late-stage geothermal development project into commercial operations while also offering opportunities for cross-functional collaboration with internal teams and company leaders.
Responsibilities
Asset Management - Commercial Readiness
- Research, analyze, and recommend strategies to schedule and bid power generation into the power market in California ISO during our testing/ pre- Commercial Online Date
- Analyze and Interpret test data to determine actual plant operating expenses, market revenues and overall profit and loss
- Recommend Key Performance Indicators and build tools and dashboards to track test performance of the asset
- Work closely with our external partner (energy trading company) to communicate next day operational parameters and test schedules
- Refine or build models that translate operational inputs into power production
Customer Engagement
- Research, analyze and summarize key customer Power Purchase Agreement commercial terms for communication across Fervo
- Prepare and distribute progress reports providing customer updates of the geothermal development, testing and commissioning progress
Project Management
- Assist with ad hoc projects (like Capacity Market (RA) or Renewable Energy Credit (REC) readiness)
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong financial and data modeling skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); advanced excel or data modeling preferred
- Interest in energy finance, power markets/trading, and clean tech/innovation
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Location
This position will be eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at our Houston, TX Office will be required.
