We're hiring a chief of staff (US-based) to take the lead in our early stage operations and strategy and to be a part of Fram Energy's story. This role is flexible to be full-time or part-time (24 hours a week or more).

On Fram Energy

Rental homes are lagging behind in the energy transition: renters have 20% higher energy cost than owner occupied homes, adoption of heat pumps is 4x lower in rental homes and less than 1% of residential rooftop solar is installed on rental homes. This is a climate problem, an equity problem and a missed economical opportunity.

**Fram Energy is bringing energy retrofits to the massive, underserved rental market.**We identified the key barriers that are keeping energy retrofits from being deployed and developed a business model that tackles them. Our platform de-risks investments in energy retrofits and realigns incentives. For property owners, we open up a new income stream whilst simultaneously addressing net zero goals. For renters, we lower energy bills and increase comfort and quality of life. For the planet, we unlock gigascale emissions reduction.

Fram Energy is wrapping up a $1.5M pre-seed fundraising round led by Precursor Ventures, with participation from strong climate, fintech and proptech investors. Our first pilot projects will be deployed this fall.

What you'll do (impact)

This role is perfect for someone looking to wear many hats in an early stage company whilst achieving real climate impact. Your mandate is anything that makes Fram run more smoothly, specifically in the domains of strategy and operations. You’ll start off owning our pilot projects (a combination of operations and customer relations) and developing frameworks and models for some key strategy domains, but the sky is the limit in terms of what you can get involved in. There is always a lot to do, so we can shape the role to align with your growth goals and passions.

You’ll drive Fram Energy’s success by:

  • Owning our pilot projects.
    You will take the lead over our first few pilot projects. There are first engagements with customers, during which we will test Fram’s model and actually retrofit properties. To achieve success, you’ll needs to build relationships, structure operations and troubleshoot effectively. You’ll get a ton of support from the team, but you will be driving the execution.
  • Designing scalable operations. Beyond the pilot projects, you will be designing how our next wave of larger projects will be rolled out. This requires both high over vision and more detailed design.
  • Driving Fram Energy’s strategy. You will lead Fram’s strategy, developing the models and frameworks we’ll use to make key decisions, manage our resources and pinpoint our target users, geographies and value propositions.
  • Providing the engine oil that makes Fram Energy run smoothly as a team. Company processes and communication are also part of this role- setting up the backend systems to make sure the team is learning as much as possible from every conversation or experiment, communicating well and unlocking the best opportunities.
  • Flexibly switching between domains to address the highest priority tasks. As chief of staff, your job will be flexible to what will be the most enabling for the company in any given week. This means you will find yourself dipping a toe into all kinds of domains, and we can work together to make it as rewarding as possible for you. Like sales? Please, sell. Curious about product?   • Curious and flexible. We’re looking for someone who is actively excited to wear lots of hats. You might switch from a week of laser focus on pilot projects, to getting really deep on local utility policy, to coordinating a better way of sharing insights within the team. You are the perfect fit for the role if you love connecting the dots on many disciplines and getting up to speed pronto.

Preferred qualifications

We will thoughtfully examine your qualifications and prior experience to assess your likeliness at excelling at the attributes above,

  • Preferred work experience. We’re open to evaluating candidates from a variety of backgrounds. Experience in consulting, real estate or operations would be a logical fit. We’re aiming for a minimum of 3 years experience, but are flexible to assess other leadership experiences than full-time employment.
  • Education. We’re targeting a candidate with a B.S. level degree. An M.B.A is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Geography and hours are flexible. The position is open to candidates based in the US. Fram Energy’s HQ will be in New York from January 2024. Being able to meet in person on a regular basis is a plus. We are flexible to offer this role part-time for a minimum of 3 days (24h) a week.
