Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Government Relations Associate to support efforts engaging with local, state, and federal government entities and advocating for domestic solar manufacturing policies. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of relevant policy or legislative experience, with preference for individuals with prior experience working on Capitol Hill and/or experience with trade or tax issues. Strong writing and organizational skills are essential for this role as the Associate will be responsible for research, writing, and potentially participating in government meetings. Working in person at the Washington DC office is a requirement.
Responsibilities
- Policy Research: Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal policies related to solar power and energy storage. Analyze the potential impact of policy changes on the company's operations.
- Legislative Support: Monitor legislative initiatives and bills related to solar energy and energy storage. Provide support in drafting and reviewing legislation and policy proposals.
- Written Communication: Prepare written materials such as policy briefs, talking points, one-pagers, and meeting memos to communicate the company's position and recommendations on policy.
- Organizational Support: Assist in the planning and coordination of government meetings, including arranging appointments, preparing agendas, and gathering relevant materials.
- Trade Association Monitoring: Participate in regular calls and meetings of trade associations. Provide written summaries of meetings for staff unable to participate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, or a related field preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in government relations, policy advocacy, or a related field.
- Prior experience working on Capitol Hill or in a government relations role is a significant advantage.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex policy issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Writing samples and professional references are required.
