SENIOR BI DATA ENGINEER

SUMMARY

The Senior BI Data Engineer will provide data and reporting solutions to support construction project execution and commercial management. This position will work with business stakeholders and team members to facilitate data acquisition, processing, and analysis of data to support decision making. This position reports to the Senior Manager Business Process or another management personnel that the team lead may designate. This position is Hybrid based out of the Houston office three days per week. Working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm or 9:00am to 6:00pm local time. Overtime and weekend working hours will be required as needed. This position is expected to travel up to 10%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build analytic models and Power BI visualizations to support organization leadership.
  • Design and implement data integration and architecture to support analytics systems and self-serve BI/analytics for advanced business users.
  • Create and maintain processes to generate accurate and timely reports that help stakeholders understand and act on key data insights.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data in analytic solutions.
  • Assist in data system troubleshooting failures and inefficiencies, providing critical feedback to users and developers to minimize downtime.
  • Author standard operating procedures and guidelines to facilitate end user training.
  • Manage the support and ongoing development of existing applications, data integration platforms, and analytic solutions.
  • Provide guidance and best practices to citizen analysts.
  • Advise on developing and deploying new data technologies and capabilities in support of business strategies and needs.
  • Possess expert knowledge of data modeling to ensure consistent and efficient application of technologies.
  • Work closely with development teams in an advisory capacity to understand division requirements that add value to system design and implementation.
  • Attend work regularly and punctually as scheduled, and comply with the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures
  • Regular attendance, in accordance with the company’s attendance policy and supervisory assignment, is an essential job duty requirement for this position.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, IS/IT or equivalent field
  • Five or more years of experience in business intelligence and data management, preferably Power BI, Databricks, and Azure.
  • Strong skills in SQL, Python, DAX, or similar technology.
  • Experience with data management, analytics, and deployment of system solutions.
  • Fundamental understanding and experience with construction management platforms (SalesForce, P6, HCSS, Procore, and other construction project management applications) preferred.
  • Ability to take user requirements, translate into technical deliverables, and to create illustrative narratives using data.
  • Ability to simplify and summarize complex topics for non-technical audiences and translate non-technical stakeholder needs into technical solutions.
  • Strong project management/stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage change and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Travel is up to 10% as needed.
