COMPANY
Revitalizing domestic manufacturing and advancing industrial decarbonization are the two greatest challenges of our generation.
Gencores was founded on the conviction that only breakthrough material innovation can transform industries at the speed, depth and scale the future demands.
We leverage groundbreaking advances in chemistry, material science, and processing technology to produce ultra-high-performance, recyclable, and cost-efficient composite materials at scale. Our unique composites are enabling the next generation of high-efficiency ICEs and EVs — requiring 50% fewer batteries — and high-strength, fire resistant pipelines critical to upgrading and expanding the U.S. electrical grid for the development of an all-electric, sustainable and AI-powered future.
Our scientific breakthroughs have earned recognition and funding from leading organizations such as the U.S. National Science Foundation, the Advance Research Project Agency - Energy (ARPA-E, DOE), the states of Massachusetts and New York, Breakthrough Energy (Bill Gates’ climate fund), and major the largest companies worldwide.
We are now delivering our first products to market. Join us in our mission to revolutionize transportation, strengthen the energy infrastructure, and drive global sustainability at an unprecedented pace.
ROLE
Ready to help shape the future of materials? We're looking for a bold, talented and collaborative product-focused Material Chemist who has already taken a material all the way to market — from lab to successful customer pilots to production — and knows how to turn innovation into manufacturable reality. You'll join a fast-moving, interdisciplinary team of seven exceptional scientists and engineers, working at the forefront of innovation to bring breakthrough material innovation to the industry.
Responsibilities:
Support client engagements and pilot trials by tailoring material systems to specific application requirements.
Develop and optimize polymer chemistries to meet demanding performance, processing, and sustainability requirements.
Collaborate with the scientific team and process engineers to support guiding future material and system design (e.g. fiber-matrix adhesion, curing behavior etc.)
Document and communicate findings through detailed reports and presentations to technical and executive teams.
Contribute to IP generation through inventive chemistry, process improvements, and data-driven insights.
Required Qualifications
If you don’t meet all the listed criteria but are excited about joining Gencores, please complete the application form and indicate your desired role.
Ph.D. or M.S. in Materials Science, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
3–7 years of hands-on experience in polymer synthesis, formulation, or composite material development (academic or industrial).
Proficiency with analytical tools such as DSC, TGA, DMA, FTIR, rheometry, and mechanical testing.
Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments independently, interpret data, and draw actionable conclusions.
Proven track record of collaboration across engineering and processing teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to technical and executive teams.
Absolute passion for working in a startup environment — adaptable, proactive, and highly motivated by team success and impact.
