GreenLight BioSciences is the leader in RNAi-based biopesticides. In 2024, we gained approval for a sprayable dsRNA biopesticide, Calantha™, commercialized for potato plant protection against Colorado potato beetle in the U.S. In 2025, we launched Norroa™, targeting Varroa destructor in honeybee colonies and submitted for registration the first dsRNA fungicide for grape powdery mildew control.
The intern will be focused on learning at least one of the following: benchtop fermenters, pilot scale fermenters and/or disc stack centrifuge. As their schedule permits, they will have exposure to the full run cycle, and be given responsibilities commensurate with their skill level, including:
Collecting and processing samples from various bioprocessing equipment
Media and stock solution preparation
Setting up fermenters and/or DSP equipment
Cleaning fermenters and labware
Qualifications:
Pursuing a degree in biological engineering or related field (microbiology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, etc)
Hands on experience working in a laboratory environment
Experience growing microbes and sterile technique desirable
Interest in precision fermentation
Quick learner and detail oriented
This program is funded through the North Carolina Biotechnology Center's Industrial Internship Program. IIP internships are designed to be spring/summer internships with specific dates/hours to be determined by company needs and candidate availability.
