Senior Field Supervisor
Gridware
People & HR, Operations
Remote
USD 145k-160k / year
The Senior Field Supervisor will lead Gridware's in-field team members— the people who manage technicians that partner with utility crews to install Gridscopes for our customers and report to the Senior Manager, Field Operations. This role owns the day-to-day performance, development, and standards of the on-the-ground field team as Gridware scales across customers, regions, and into international markets.
This is a player-coach role. You'll still be on site at peak install windows and to check in on projects and crews, but increasingly your job is making sure the supervisors on your team have what they need to make good calls in the field, hold a consistent quality bar, and develop into stronger leaders themselves.
Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and manage a team of Field Operations Supervisors anchored to major US regions
Own weekly 1:1s, quarterly performance reviews, growth plans, and career development for each direct report
Manage hourly field technicians schedules and timesheets
Hire new Field Operations Supervisors as the team scales regionally and internationally
Coordinate and run trainings for new cohorts of technicians and refresh training for the existing team
Build the bench — identify high-performing technicians as future supervisor candidates
Own day-to-day performance of the field supervisor team across all active customer deployments
Manage capacity plans for the team to ensure we have appropriate staffing for customer demand
Coordinate cross-region planning for new customer expansions and peak install cycles
Drive consistent supervisor practice across customers and regions, even where customer-specific requirements differ
Visit deployments alongside supervisors during peak windows and during key phases (like week 1 of a big expansion)
Serve as the primary escalation point for the supervisor team — safety, delays, contractor issues, customer-facing field decisions
Own the playbooks, training materials, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support the scale of the field operations team
Author and maintain the supervisor onboarding program in partnership with HR/L&D
Convert field learnings and incident findings into updated SOPs and training
Revise contractor training and safety training in partnership with EH&S
Own the team's interface with Gridware contracted line crews
Partner with the Senior Manager on vendor performance management, contract terms, and net-new contractor exploration
Provide structured feedback from the field team into product design, install tooling, and field app development
Partner with Finance & Sr. Manager of Field Operations on unit cost tracking by region, customer, and crew, and on contractor cost levers
Represent Field Operations in customer-facing escalation conversations when appropriate
Own daily execution of the safety program across the supervisor team
Set tailboard and Job Hazard Analysis standards across team and ensure consistent use of safety tooling
Lead safety reviews following any incident and convert findings into updated practice
Enforce safety policies and best practices across the team's deployments
