Principal Product Manager, Billing - Hybrid Denver, CO
GridX
Job Posting:
A clear opportunity exists to accelerate the utility electrification journey with fintech solutions. The GridX Experience team is seeking a Principal Product Manager to join the Product Management Practice to lead a strategic business line. As Principal Product Manager, Billing, your role is to lead the product development life cycle (PDLC) for the complex billing portfolio, drive strategic initiatives, and define and develop innovative solutions that lift GridX's broader strategic goals.
This is a highly visible, business critical role at the intersection of scale, technology, and customer experience. You will be responsible for tackling complex challenges to define the future of how utility revenue goals are analyzed, calculated, and operationalized. This enables utilities to support complex rates and innovative pilot programs where they currently are relying on manual billing and analog solutions, or evaluating the extreme costs and long implementation timelines of a rip-and-replace solution. You will operate as a business line leader, leading through influence and deep expertise to deliver and iterate on market-defining experiences.
Responsibilities
- Business Line Vision & Strategy: Own and drive the 12 month product vision and strategy for billing and dynamic rates. Evangelize the billing experience roadmap that aligns cross-functional teams and inspires stakeholders, from engineers to the executive suite.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Define, own, and analyze the key performance indicators (KPIs) and objectives and key results (OKRs) for your product portfolio. Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to make difficult trade-off decisions, prioritize initiatives, and measure the business impact of your work.
- Strategic Discovery & Innovation: While owning the Complex Billing portfolio, continuously scan the market and business for new, high-leverage opportunities. Champion initiatives and define new product areas that fall outside of the current roadmap but align with GridX's broader strategic goals.
- Cross-Functional Ownership: Lead a lean agile, cross-functional team of world-class engineers, product designers, and data scientists. Foster a culture of software innovation and rapid execution by building alignment and driving consensus through influence, not authority.
- Execution & Delivery: Work closely with a cross-functional team of engineers, data scientists and solutions architects to translate strategy into actionable product milestones. Drive the end-to-end product development lifecycle, managing complex dependencies and risks to deliver high-quality, impactful products and features to our users.
- Mentorship & Practice Leadership: Mentor and coach other product managers, helping to elevate the team's capabilities. Partner with executive leadership to shape the product organization and culture. Contribute to the development of product management best practices, tools, and processes across the organization, acting as a thought leader and champion for the product craft.
- Experience Growth & Commercialization: Identify and pursue strategic opportunities for product growth, from new market entry to feature-driven adoption. Partner with sales, marketing, and finance to develop go-to-market strategies to achieve revenue and business growth targets. Foster relationships with different system integrator partners to build the partner network of Calculate implementors
- Domain & Technical Mastery: Become the company's foremost expert on billing, dynamic rates, and customer care. Synthesize complex inputs from customer research, competitive analysis, and emerging technology trends to identify and champion new, market-differentiating feature sets to transform the way utilities manage complex billing operations, offer dynamic rates and support their customers.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training and/or degree in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Human Centered Design, or Data Science) or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of launching and managing successful products at scale.
- Demonstrated leadership managing high visibility projects with stakeholders and peers, with the ability to collaborate to solve problems quickly with minimal oversight.
- Proven experience effectively leading and inspiring cross-functional teams, driving consensus, and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills and able to communicate sophisticated concepts to various audiences
- Strong focus on strategic vision, including the ability to understand market trends, to innovate, and to develop product strategy aligned with business goals.
- Ability to work across time zones in a dynamic start-up setting.
- Willingness to travel (up to 10% of the time) to support customer engagements, strategic partner meetings, and program initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep domain expertise in Utility meter-to-cash operations and customer information systems.
- Experience building 0-to-1 products as well as iterating on products with established product-market fit.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to drive strategic decisions. Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Google Analytics, Tableau) is a strong plus.
- A bias for action, a strong sense of curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Expert at leading through influence, ability to navigate and foster relationships with a diverse group of individuals and skillsets to succeed
