Halter in the USA
Are you ready to lead the growth of one of the most disruptive technologies in agriculture - to scale it across the US? This is not your usual role. We’re looking for an experienced commercial leader. You’ve successfully scaled a product in the US before. However, you have unfinished business. Maybe you have unfulfilled potential and you’ve been waiting for a company that matches your high ambition or a product that’s disrupting an industry. Well, timing is everything - this is the career-defining role you’ve been searching for.
Halter is a US company that started in New Zealand, now managing over 200,000 cattle across hundreds of customers throughout New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
About the role
Halter is one of the world’s fastest-growing agritech companies, and the most transformative technology available in pasture-based grazing. With Halter’s cattle collars and app, graziers can virtually fence and shift their cattle, as well as proactively monitor cattle locations and behaviour. We’re looking for an exceptional leader to scale our US business. This opportunity comes with significant investment and support from our team, leaders and board. It is a rare chance to build on existing demand and unlock rapid expansion.
Salary: $200K/yr - $250K/yr
The role location is flexible but needs to align with our customer base, which is clustered in the West and South of the US. Regular travel will be required.
What your day could look like
- You’ll lead your team to achieve the ambitious growth objectives for your market by delivering customer value, growing our customer base, building out the team, embedding a high-performance culture, and collaborating with teams in New Zealand and Australia.
- You’ll champion the needs of our US customers across Halter, ensuring they are prioritized in our product roadmaps and accounted for in company priorities.
- You’ll develop and execute the growth strategy for Halter to scale across the US, establishing Halter as the category leader for virtual fencing. You’ll build the strategy to grow Halter’s brand and presence across the US. You’ll shape and execute the sales and marketing strategy for the US, and you’ll be an ambassador for Halter in the US, leading high-value industry partnerships.
- You’ll foster a high-performance culture. You’ll shape an inclusive and supportive culture that’s a strong blend of Halter’s high-performing DNA with the local strengths of Americans. You’ll be a great role model, maintaining high-performance standards throughout your team.
- Reporting to the President, you’ll work closely with Exec on scaling Halter throughout the US. You’ll provide input into key company strategic priorities.
Who are we looking for - these skills are essential for this role and reflect how we operate every day. We expect applicants to demonstrate evidence of these requirements in their resume, cover letter and in interviews.
- Attitude: You’re a go-getter and a hands-on leader, keen to get in the details to deliver solutions. You’ll have experience getting in the field with customers and your team, solving problems and finding opportunities alongside them. You’re tenacious and gritty. Your work stories include times when others would have given up, but you found a way through. Your unusually high ambition and hunger for growth is matched by your genuine humility. This is how you drive a team to solve problems in a pragmatic way. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high degree of freedom and ambitious objectives.
- Growth: You have years of experience of taking a product or service to market and scaling it to achieve significant quantifiable commercial value. You’re naturally curious - you have evidence of learning a complex domain quickly and adding value - you just love learning. You are highly creative and resourceful at chasing and realizing new growth opportunities. You can give examples of how you use data to identify and develop solutions to complex commercial problems.
- Leadership: The hardest times reveal your greatest leadership qualities. Because of your leadership, your team is focused, motivated and successful. Your co-workers and direct reports will tell us in detail about how you were the most effective leader they’ve ever worked with. Your composure inspires your team to feel capable and safe, regardless of the challenges being faced. Your empathetic, dependable and inclusive approach builds psychological safety and unlocks innovation.
Bonus role requirements - these are not essential for you to apply.
