About the role
We are searching for an exceptional General Manager to lead the growth of Halter’s South Island Business, covering the full customer cycle (from new sales through to customer success). We’re looking for someone with commercial nous, X-factor, charisma and the ability to overcome complex challenges. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading the region's growth into the hundreds of millions of ARR.

When the pressure is on in the biggest moments, you’ll be someone who wants to be in the game. You might find yourself juggling time on farm with customers, coaching and developing your team, through to driving growth strategy and cross-functional priorities within Halter. You’ll be masterful at building trusting relationships, driving sales processes, managing large pipelines and enabling a team, whilst advocating for customers with a solutions-oriented mindset.
This isn’t a typical role. This is a high-stakes role, spearheading Halter’s growth in the South Island.
Aside from jumping on the Halter roller coaster, you will be making a real-world impact, making farming more productive and sustainable. You will build relationships across New Zealand and Australia's most influential farming leaders while working closely with senior leaders and the exec team within Halter.

What your day could look like

  • Customer Success: Ensure a seamless and positive customer experience across the entire customer lifecycle. Monitor customer satisfaction levels and implement improvement initiatives continuously. Work closely with the Customer Success team to resolve any issues and ensure customer retention and expansion.
  • Growth initiatives: Working closely with the Customer Director, develop and lead a growth strategy to deliver on the market opportunity for Halter.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive regional strategy to expand our market presence and achieve growth objectives. Identify new market opportunities and drive initiatives to increase market share. Collaborate with the Customer Director and other regional managers to align on goals and objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the South Island team. Set clear performance expectations, KPIs and provide regular feedback. Lead on hiring and performance management. Foster a positive and collaborative team culture that promotes vulnerability and learning.
  • Training and Development: Adapt Halter’s existing processes to develop and implement training programs for the South Island team, ensuring continuous skill enhancement and alignment with company objectives. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the sales organisation.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with senior leaders, and product and support teams to ensure exceptional results for the South Island region.
  • Forecasting: Working with the Director of Customer to enable monthly and quarterly forecasting of revenue.
  • Networking: Building and leveraging industry relationships to establish and maintain Halter's brand.

  • Experience in growing new and existing businesses, developing market strategies and more importantly, a track record of delivering.
  • Experience working with customers, navigating complex sales cycles and expanding value over time.
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally and lead teams.
  • A deep passion for helping farmers succeed. Experience in farm systems or within the agricultural sector would be a bonus.
  • A phenomenal attitude and a team player with the ability to consistently overcome challenges.
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment with a high degree of autonomy.
