About the role
Want to be on the cutting edge of technology within the agricultural sector? This role is not a traditional role as we are pioneering the future of farming. We’re looking for someone eager to take Virtual Fencing to the next level in New Zealand and overseas.
You will be a part of our multidisciplinary Farm Research & Development team composed of engineers, farmers, and everything in between. Our days never look the same; we find ourselves doing anything from working with the animals to sitting in our AKL-HQ working on the next big endeavour. We focus on designing and developing new features that benefit our animals and our customers in their day-to-day operations using Halter.
We believe that team culture is vital for our success as a team and as a company and as a result, we work hard to maintain a fun and casual atmosphere in which you can thrive and develop. From the first day you join, you'll be able to have a direct impact on what our product looks like and how farmers use it. Your point of view, support and input will be vital to the success of Halter. You will be heavily involved in all the tests we run; from the designing phase all the way through the testing and interpreting of data.
This internship will run from the 18th of November 2024 through to the 28th of February 2025. It will be full-time 40 hours a week over this period.
What your day could look like
- Running trials to enable continuous invocation and expansion of the Virtual Fencing product, from design to execution to conclusion.
- Critically thinking about the interactions between animals and our collar to proactively start initiatives valuable for our farmers and their animals.
- Analysing data, results and learnings to monitor/support virtual fencing in the field to proactively and reactively solve challenges to maintain high levels of performance.
- Working cross-functionally across Halter: working with our Engineering team to provide input into new and existing product features; to our Customer Success team to ensure our products are meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations.
- Sharing in-depth knowledge and context about farming, animals and virtual fencing throughout Halter.
Who are we looking for?
- Ideally, you are enrolled in your final year or have a recent completion of an agriculture, agribusiness, animal behaviour, livestock biometrics degree or similar degree.
- Passion and experience in farming, animals and cow behaviour.
- Interest in agri-tech, being tech-savvy and not afraid of learning our product's inner details and functionality.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Fast learner who is motivated to work hard and learn with a team doing things that have never been done before.
- Energetic and excited about making farms more productive and sustainable.
