At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy. The ES-30 is expected to enter into service in 2028.

We are now looking for a Senior Systems Installation Design Engineer to join our Structures & Interiors team in Gothenburg. Do you have experience with installation of aircraft electrical systems and want to contribute to a more sustainable future?

Your mission

The Senior Systems Installation Design Engineer - Electrical will help us design and develop various aircraft electrical systems. This will be a broad role covering the design of multiple electrical systems such as avionics, energy storage, equipment racks, electrical power, and EWIS. As a Senior Engineer, you will leverage past experience to develop the design and provide guidance/mentorship to fellow engineers. You will be working with a multi-disciplinary team to develop the design of the aircraft.

This position will be responsible for leading the integration of one or more electrical systems. Within the assigned system, you will have responsibility for designing the interconnection elements (bundles, harnesses, connectors, etc.) along with the installation of all equipment. You will also take part in establishing our ways of working, covering writing, reviewing, and implementing group and company level policies, procedures, guidelines, and templates.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create CAD models defining the layout of various aircraft electrical systems, ensuring adherence to system design requirements.
  • Develop electrical system installation design principles.
  • Work with other aircraft disciples to ensure an optimized aircraft design that meets program targets.
  • Support trade studies on various configurations to support aircraft development, through the entire development lifecycle.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and awareness of developments related to aircraft electrical systems and related airworthiness regulations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed to document and communicate the evolution of the product.
  • Report technical risks, issues, and opportunities to the team, technical leadership, and program.

You will report to the Head of Structures & Interiors and your place of work will be at our main office located in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of design experience with at least two aircraft electrical systems (unique ATAs).
  • High proficiency in 3D Sketch-based CAD software such as Catia V5/V6 or NX and PLM systems (ideally 3DExperience).
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) and configuration control best practices.
  • Proven understanding of electrical systems certification and design requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Experience working on large collaborative projects and eagerness to work with others.
  • Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment is preferred.
  • Experience testing electrical systems at both the system and aircraft level is preferred.
  • Proficiency coordinating activities with external stakeholders (such as suppliers) is preferred.
  • Understanding/training on ARP 4754 – Guidelines for development of civil aircraft and systems is preferred.
  • Good verbal & written communication skills in English.
  • Passion for aircraft and electrification of the aviation industry.

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
