Greenhouse Ops Supervisor

Overview

In a world increasingly impacted by climate change, pollution, and population growth, conventional vegetable production is unsustainable. Greenhouse hydroponics uses up to 90% less water, increases yields, reduces food waste, uses fewer pesticides, eliminates fertilizer runoff, and enables local production. Still, greenhouse producers remain a niche due to high capital and labor costs and operational complexity.

Hippo Harvest has broken through this barrier by developing the first vertically integrated physical AI platform for growing leafy greens that are cost-competitive with conventional field production. Hippo’s products deliver longer shelf life, better flavor, and more reliable supply.

As the Operations Supervisor at Hippo Harvest, you are the connective tissue between our people, our plants, and our technology. You thrive in fast-moving environments, can context-switch between a staffing gap and a robot malfunction, and bring calm and clarity to a production floor. You're as comfortable reviewing a shift schedule or handling a workplace injury as you are supporting boots on the troubleshooting alongside an engineer. You care deeply about your team, food safety, and getting things done right.

You Will

• Own staffing, scheduling, and day-to-day workforce management for all production shifts
• Direct greenhouse associates across seeding, transplanting, harvesting, washing, and facility upkeep
• Serve as the on-the-floor partner for our engineering team — triaging and troubleshooting robotic, hardware, and software issues
• Coordinate daily work sequencing with the Plant Scientist and ensure all farm tasks are completed to standard
• Enforce food safety protocols, train new hires, and provide feedback to tech and plant science teams on process improvements
• Act as the operational point of contact across engineering, plant science, sales, and ops teams

You Have

• Fluent in both English and Spanish (required)

• Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role, preferably in agriculture, manufacturing, or a similarly hands-on environment

• Comfortable with everyday software tools including Google Calendar, Google Sheets, and other productivity apps

• Strong troubleshooting instincts — able to stay calm and resourceful when people, plant, or technology problems arise

• Excellent communicator who can work effectively across a diverse team and multiple departments.

• The ability to commute to our location at Pescadero California, daily.
