Hi there! Thanks for stopping by 👋

Are you passionate about tackling climate change? Eager to make a real impact on the environment? Well, look no further - you’re in the perfect place!

We’re looking for a Design and Test Engineer to join our team in Offenburg. This is a hybrid position with typically 1-2 home office days per week (depending on actual work). You will work with our multidisciplinary team to design and test our ultra-high temperature electric heaters to decarbonize industrial furnaces.

What you’ll be doing:

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Gain familiarity with your colleagues' roles.
  • Be introduced to our technology and participate in our development processes.
  • Familiarize yourself with our design standards and how they are applied.
  • Collaborate with a coworker to conduct initial tests with a prototype.

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Perform design tasks and the creation of technical drawings.
  • Engage with our suppliers or identify new ones to discuss our ideas.
  • Plan and construct a test setup autonomously.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Develop our product further from concept through pre-liminary sizing and first designs to serial manufacturing independently and present them to your team for discussion.
  • Execute tests and ensure thorough documentation of the results.
  • Introduce fresh ideas that enhance our overall development efforts.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Technician, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • A strong technical understanding (function, manufacturability, assembly)
  • CAD experience (e.g., Inventor or similar software)
  • Full proficiency in German to communicate with our suppliers
  • Excellent written and spoken English to communicate with the team, our customers and our suppliers

Even better if you have:

  • Work experience, especially in high-temperature and ceramics design, testing and manufacturing
  • Self-driven and independent work attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present technical information.

** Please note this is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of at least 3 days per week on-site in Offenburg, Germany. **

Who we are:

Hyperheat is a young Climate Tech start-up with experienced founders and the goal of developing a renewable heat solution for energy-intensive industries. Basic industrial products, such as steel, cement, chemicals, glass, and paper, form the material basis of modern societies. However, the heat demand for their production is responsible for around 20% of human CO2 emissions (or 7,5 Gt CO2 each year) due to burning fossil fuels — therefore, it is one of the last major sectors without attractive, sustainable decarbonization solutions yet.

Hyperheat's products will provide a complete temperature range of up to 2000°C, making it a replacement for almost every gas burner in the industry. Our solution will be more cost-effective than the fossil state of the art, contributing to a new basis for global prosperity. At the heart of the development is a durable and cost-effective electric heater that can provide industrial process heat 24/7 from PV and wind power when combined with thermal storage.
