Business Analyst, Market and Strategy (m/f/d)
HyperHeat
Hi there, and welcome 👋
HyperHeat is building electric high-temperature heating systems to replace fossil burners in the most demanding industrial processes, transforming an industry responsible for roughly 20% of global CO₂ emissions. We are at a point where it is about making hard technology work in real plants, under real economic constraints.
We are looking for a Business Analyst focussing on Market and Strategy to join our team in Cologne. The role operates close to the founders, with significant autonomy and direct exposure to customers, partners, and investors.
In this role, you will independently drive market and customer analysis, shape customer personas, and act as an early point of contact for inbound and outbound conversations. You will work hands on with our Techno Economic Analysis (TEA) model to turn complex technical and financial inputs into clear business cases, sales narratives, and decision ready material. Success is measured by insight quality, clarity created, and momentum generated, not by reports produced.
What you’ll be doing:
Within 1 month, you will:
- Build a deep understanding of HyperHeat’s technology, target industries, and priority applications
- Become fluent in our Techno Economic Analysis model and underlying assumptions
- Analyze existing customer conversations, pilots, and proposals to extract patterns and insights
- Independently prepare decision-ready analyses and materials for founder and customer discussions
Within 3 months, you will:
- Own market and application deep dives for selected target segments
- Define and refine customer personas, including buyers, technical stakeholders, and internal champions
- Act as a first point of contact for selected inbound and outbound customer conversations
- Build robust, customer specific business cases that stand up in front of industrial decision makers
- Create sales and investor materials that clearly communicate economic and strategic value
Within 6 months, you will:
- Be a trusted sparring partner to the founders on market prioritization, pricing logic, and go-to-market strategy
- Independently drive cross-functional projects such as application selection, partnership screening, or market entry hypotheses
- Anticipate customer questions and objections before they surface and prepare clear, data-backed answers
- Raise the overall commercial and analytical bar of the company through structure, clarity, and rigour
What you’ll bring to the team:
Must have
- A strong analytical foundation and the ability to translate complex technical and economic topics into clear, decision ready insights
- Proven comfort operating in ambiguity, structuring open questions independently, and moving topics forward without waiting for detailed instructions
- Experience building robust business cases, financial models, or techno economic analyses that stand up to scrutiny beyond the spreadsheet
- A high level of ownership and reliability, with a track record of taking responsibility for outcomes rather than tasks
- Clear, concise communication skills, both written and verbal in English and German, tailored to technical and non technical audiences
Strong plus
- The ability to engage confidently with industrial customers, partners, and senior stakeholders, asking the right questions and earning trust through substance
- Curiosity and learning speed in complex domains, with the discipline to separate signal from noise
- A pragmatic mindset that balances ambition with real world constraints and execution reality
Even better if you have:
- Background in consulting, venture, energy, industrial tech, or deep-tech startups
- Prior exposure to heavy industry, energy markets, or industrial economics
- Experience supporting sales, partnerships, or fundraising processes
- Comfort building high-quality slides and narratives for senior audiences
What's in it for you?
- The opportunity to work on one of the hardest and most relevant industrial problems of this decade, making electric high-temperature heat competitive at scale
- Direct exposure to founders, customers, and investors, with real responsibility and a clear line of sight from your work to company decisions
- A steep learning curve at the intersection of deep tech, industrial economics, and go-to-market execution
- The chance to shape how HyperHeat understands its markets, customers, and applications, not just analyze them
- A team environment with high trust, low politics, and a strong bias toward substance and execution
- Honest feedback, high expectations, and room to grow fast based on contribution, not tenure
- Flexibility in how you structure your work, with the freedom to work remotely up to two days per week, while being encouraged to spend meaningful time on site with the team
- We speak English at HyperHeat to collaborate smoothly across backgrounds
Working at HyperHeat:
- Flexible working hours and hybrid work options
- 30 days of annual leave for well-charged batteries.
- Annual Christmas dinner hosted by the founders.
- Laptop and accessories provided based on your preferences.
- Regular team activities.
- Access to a sports benefit.
Who we are:
HyperHeat electrifies industrial heat. We build high temperature electric heating systems that enable steel, cement, chemicals, glass, ceramics, and other energy intensive industries to replace fossil burners with a solution that is competitive, scalable, and reliable in real operations.
Industrial process heat is one of the largest remaining sources of global CO2 emissions. Solving it requires more than good intentions. It requires technology that performs at high temperatures, integrates into existing plants, and wins on economics.
Our products cover a temperature range up to 2000°C and are designed for continuous industrial use. We work with industrial partners on deployments, validate performance under real constraints, and translate that learning into scalable products.
We are building HyperHeat to become the number one supplier of high temperature industrial heating solutions by 2030, deploying more than one gigawatt per year, powered by a proud, talented team.
If you want your work to sit where deep tech meets real world deployment and where analysis directly shapes decisions, you will feel at home here.
